Need help! Lousy piece of $&*%!!!

Question, i have a POS amp that i got for free, the amp is in finne condition, it's a 4 x 90, I have an eclipse 54430 that i was running the speakers off of before, i put on this amp for a little more power and it sounds worse! The Bass is all weird and muddy, have i adjusted it wrong, i'm only running a pair of 6x9 because i haven't put my components up front yet (this weekend). Anyone have any ides on how to adjust the the amp? What else could the problem be? Help!!!!!!!

Is it a 4 channel ONLY? Can it also run 2 or 1 channel? If so, more than likely the amp has a built in crossover. Look on the sides of the amp if there are any settings. This will tell you if the amp has a built in crossover. The wrong settings on these switches for the type of channels you're trying to run will cause a "distortion" to the speakers.

I doubt i'm overpowering them, they're infinity kappa 6x9s (the green ones). No it's not a 4 channel only it can run 4/3/2 It does have crossovers, and i was playing with those and the gains the other day, the bass just is not as tight or as deep as my regular 13 watt RMS eclipse deck! I figure that i've got to be screwing up somewhere i'm just not sure where, Got any tips?

what i was thinking was that you were putting too much power on the 6x9's and they weren't able to handle the power at higher volumes. but if they aren't being overpowered, i'm not too sure. and you say you've messed with the crossovers. how is it that your getting the signal for the amplifier?? from a line out converter maybe??

by the way what kind of amp is it also???

The amp is crap. It's gonna add lots of crappyness to the sound, but that does not mean you can't play with it and make it right. x over should be around 100hz(highpassed) Or even upwards of 300hz. Gain 1/4 to 1/2 up. If theres a cliping light make sure its not on. Keep bass and treble flat on the head unit. Try those first and go from there.

I'm looking at getting the Arc audio 50 x 4 or if i decide to change my rear speakers the 85x4, and for subs i'm getting the big dogs, 2 of the brahma 12's, i have no idea what i'm gonna use to run those yet though, i was contemplating something from Harrison labs, but i don't think so, maybe something from MMats, or this would be nice
http://www.ozaudio.com/oz/oz_prod_amp.shtml

It's all a matter of splitting time and money between audio/performance/looks for 2 cars, it's expensive!

damn nice, i'm running a adire tempest. i think the 1200.1 is a bit much for the adire shiva's. you can go ask dan wiggins if you want (he's the aidre audio man). but damn nice setup. arc audio amp, man that's sweet.

oh, and stay away from the harrison amps. i'd say maybe get the jbl600.1 for the shivas. and definately get the arc audio 85 x 4.

and then if you want my opinion or rear speakers..... lol. nevermind.

If your gonna be smart and get a good amp for the mids/highs, then be smart and get a good amp for the sub too, stick with ARC.

that's true. lol. i don't know why i didn't say that, it makes more sense than what i said.

if you have the flow, get the Arc Audio 2500CXL for the subs.
i wish i could get it.

Thanns , but ummm, i never said anything about the Shivas I'm doing at least 2 maybe 3 Brahmas! Yeah and i know you and rear speakers, hell i may not even need them since i'm actually contemplating stuffing some 8 inchers up front instead of the 6.5 like i was thinking earlier

damn it, i have been doing that forever. i don't know why. yeah, the jbl1200.1 would be fine for the brahma. dan says those things have some awesome sound quality. i wish i could get the 15" brahma, but damn the price, the space saving with using the brahma's is incredible for what they put out.

nismo, i think i've seen you on some other audio boards, i just noticed that.

noooooooooooooo. i need to promise myself to never spend that much on a speaker. lol. i'd like one though, but i need other things before that, like some new tires. that's the main reason i went with the tempest, it was cheap.
