I Went to Circut City To buy replacement speakers for the rear of my car. i bought a pair of Alpine 6.5 when i got home and tried to install the holes didnt line up with the stock ones and it seemed like the speaker was too small ( barley being held up) does anyone have an suggestions on what kind of speakers to get for the rear?

thanks

the maxima uses 6 3/4" speakers. I bought some 6.5's all around and what I had to do is some custom fabrication by cutting the mounts to make tabs and redrilled holes. lots of work but it works. if you do drill new holes, make shure you mask off the whole speaker and magnet because when you drill it all the metal shavings will get sucked inside it from magnetic force

There aren't many 6 and 3/4 applications available...

Seems like most people have 6.5's... did everyone actually do this?

What material should I use to cut some 6.5" holes in, and put this stuff in place of the factory location? What kind of wood? how thick? how do you secure it in place? Or is there a better way?

thanks,

Buy the brackets from Crutchfield. They are good for any type of application for making installs easier.

I had to drill a couple of holes for the screws, and I just used silcone sealant to fill up the open spaces and secure the speakers.

Sorry, I don't have a product number. They usually don't list their kits for certain cars...what you have to do is call their toll free number and talk to one of their sales reps. They will be more than happy to help you and sell you whatever your looking for if they carry it in stock. Believe me, I had ordered tons of kits from them before for my Max.

Thanks for the help. I will give them a call if I can't find them at the local autosound shops.
