Having New System installed/Advice
Having New System installed/Advice
Having my new Pioneer P930 Head Unit, XM radio, 2 amps, and front and rear JL XR650CS/CX speakers installed by Best Buy on Saturday. Any special advice I need to give them, or should they know what to do...i.e. 6.5" speakers vs the 6.75" brackets or mods so they fit, etc.
Anything I should look for?

no offense to anyone who works at best buy, but i wouldnt let them get within 10 feet of my car! i had an installer argue up and down with me that if you wire 3 8 ohm subs in parallel, the amp sees 2 ohm mono, when in reality, 3 8 ohm subs paralleled is 2.67. (8 / 3 = 2.67, and 8 / 4 = 2)
anyway, TRY to find someone who knows what theyre doing, even if that means waiting longer to get the stuff put in. if youd like to do it yourself, you can ask for help on a car stereo forum, like www.soundillusions.net and btw, if you need me over there, im also nismo240sx there

I think its all a case by case thing. I had the pleasure of working at BBY and our install dept was pretty good. The guys knew what they were doing and all had impressive systems themselves. Try to talk to some friends and see if anyone has had any experience with the guys there. For what you are having installed there shouldnt be any problems. Im sure you are paying an arm and a leg though...thats a lengthy install list. If you have a 4th gen, I would tell them to make a note your AC control unit. If the LED lights work going in make sure they do coming out. When I installed my deck the lights went out, and ive heard of that happening on others too. Thats an advantage of BBY, if they screw up they have to fix it.
