Clifford Avant Guard 4...

I've been doing a lot of research on alarms lately and I've heard that a lot of good things about this one. How much does it typically go for as I haven't been able to find a price on it? Also, what accessories would you guys recommend?

This alarm may be too pricey for me, but I'm really thinking of just spending it because it'll be protecting a $2000+ stereo soon. Are there any other alarms you guys would recommend?

Thanks,
-Nick

I think you asked something similar to this a week or so ago. I would go with anything from the DEI, Viper, Hornet, or Clifford family. They are all made by the same company. Get the ones that fit your budget. I prefer the Viper. You should expect to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $450 or so. That's what mine cost installed with the relays for sunroof, doors, windows, remote start, and trunk.

what unit do you have? my guess is yours probably cost less than the avantguard, cuz the avantguard 4 is the TOP-OF-THE-LINE alarm from clifford.

yea as far as the avant guard 4 goes, you are not gonna need any accessories. it comes with just about every accessory that clifford offers

depending on which features you want, it may be cheaper to get a concept/intelliguard and add the modules. ie remote start, windows up/down, backup siren, interior/exterior motion sensor, tilt detection etc ...

with these cliffords, the modules just plug into each other so adding them in is relativly easy

i got a solaris (basically a concept + remote start) for 375 installed.

Thanks guys. I still can't decide if I want to just go all out and get the Avant Guard 4...I still don't know how much it costs. I'm definately getting a Clifford though because I heard that they are one of the best on the market...right up there with Viper.

as far as security, clifford is THE best. there is dei tho, which is a good alarm, and they offer the best warranty,...so there isnt really 1 best for everything.

Just for the record DEI owns Clifford now. The main difference between DEI's "Viper" product line and the Clifford is that the Clifford alarms have the relays built on the brain(more expensive$$$) which makes for much cleaner installation when it comes to "add-ons". The Viper line is cheaper because you need relays for the different "add-ons". You can pretty much add the same options for either alarm line though. In the end they're probably won't be much if any of a price difference once you get the features you want.

I personally plan on getting the Viper 550ESP (alarm + remote start) thru my job with a backup battery, and roll-down window module.

oh yeah, one more bit of advise
i dunno if this was an isolated case for me, but i am currently on my 3rd clifford master remote since i got my alarm installed in jan of 2k1. first remote died a little over a year after i first got it, the second remote died about 5 hours after i got it. now im on my 3rd remote, hoping i didnt get a dud. the guys at the shop said clifford had bad quality control. while i dont know if this is correct, and i may just have really bad luck, its just one more bit of info to chew on

o and this place sells the avant guard for 750
http://www.autoradiocenter.com/produ.../clifford.html

dunno how accurate thier pricing is tho
