Ok, i went to Best Buy today to have someone there check out my subwoofer to find out what is causing the "flutter" noise when there is bass. He listened to it and said it sounds like it is partially blown. Is it possible to have it partial?I thought if it was blown it would be shown on the outside, like a speaker. I guess not. Can i send it back to JL audio and have it fixed, or do i have to buy it.

Anyone got a cheap sub (10 or 12 inch) that would work with an Alpine V12 monoaural mrv-100m amp?

i'm pretty sure a blown speaker doesn't necessarily mean the material is blown, but the coil inside is fried... So if the coil is fried from too much distortion (too much power, or too loud with not enough power), then it starts to go bad. i guess you can catch it before it is completely shot, thus being partially? i dunno, wait for one of the experts to answer.

 

probably the voice coil is seperating from the cone. Mine is like that and it sounds like that at low volumes but it still plays ok when its loud.

 

i think the way to test a sub is to push on the cone (when the system is off of course) and see if there is any scratching or any noise when you push in.
