Rockford 800a2 Specs

Does anyone have the power ratings for a RF 800a2. These are a few years old, right before they made the new rounded look. I cant seem find a website with any kind of detailed stats.

Thanks man, thats unforunately what I was thinking it was. Im getting an Orion HCCA 12, which has dual 2 ohm coils...a true jam up for any amp unstable below 2 ohms...

400 at each coil at 2ohms is plenty.

Unless you truly planning on doing SPL competitions. If you are, you need to look for a very high end amp then, not just high power.

If you are good, and know what you are doing, you can get your car thumping harder than anyone at only 300watts to the subs, just need to know how to make it perform the best.

Good call, for some reason I was thinking of running series and getting a 4 ohm mono, but stereo is the way to go....

Thanks

Warbucks, how much are you getting the Orion sub for? Also, what type of amp are you considering to get?

Got a great deal on the Orion 12 off of Ebay. The guy had barely broken it in. The box was too big to fit in his truck so he decided to upgrade to 6 Cobalt series 10's! I got the HCCA 12d in a 1.5 cu ft sealed box for 215 bucks, and I picked it up from the guy(he only lived a couple hours away) so no shipping costs. Ive got it running in stereo(1 channel per voice coil) off of my Rockford Fosgate 800a2. It sounds great, amazing output for a single 12. I plan to put it in a ported box as soon as I get time to put one together. According to Orion's website the HCCA's perform much better with a ported design. Im hoping to get a new amp before long, something that is 1 ohm stable with a little more output, maybe even invest in another 12d...now that would be impressive!

You could run it at 2 ohm stereo for about 400-500 watts to each coil. If you want more power try to find a class d amp that is 1 ohm stable and just run the coils in parallel. The HCCA subs are supposed to be run in ported box. I am pretty sure there will be a very noticable difference in output if you put it in the correct size ported box.
