What are some good sub brand names?

Since i might be in the market for a new subwoofer ( i was told my JL audio is probably blown 3 years old, the little guy almost made it. Anyway, the guy who told me mentioned they had a sub 10 inch that hits pretty hard and it only costs 125. I can't remember the name though. What are some brands that i should look into, and brands that i should stay away from.

Also, i have thought about going to a 12 inch , from my 10, but that would require me getting a whole new box, huh?

thanks

I just got 2 DD 2012's and they sound great, you won't be disapointed. They are handmade and checked every step of the way, and worth the wait if you have to wait.
Digital Designs

edit: forgot the best thing, the 2012 is only $95(includes shipping) right now unless they put it back up to regular price, $129

DD is good, i used to have a DD3512. they can sound good but are mainly used for spl.

if your going to go for a 12" and want good sound quality for cheap, i'd go with an adire shiva. it's not really mainstream but damn nice.

I upgraded from a JL 10W0 to an Infinity Perfect 10". The Infinity has a much cleaner and smoother sound.

This guy in the parts section is offering me a Rockford Fosgate

here is his quote

"Rockford fosgate 12" DVC used for about 3 weeks. Its the RFD1212 and I want 40$ for it"

Is that something i should go for. I mean the price is awesome, but how much is that being cut down from the retail of it, especially for only being 3 weeks old.

I think there is a single digit off in that model number. But there is probably a lot cut off from the retail. In fact I would question how it can be sold for a price so low. Is it under warranty? Unless someone upgraded to a top of the line sub and they refused to refund the money there is something odd about that price.

And you will not be happy with a high power sub without a high power amp.

Ok, well i went to an audio store and got myself a new sub. Its a Kicker Comp 10 inch . 4 ohms, works great with my Alpine Amp. I personally think it sounds better then my JL Audio 10 inch. Then again, i got that JL audio 3 years ago.

This is basically an image of the sub, but its only 10 inch. Let me know your thoughts on it.

Actually the reason its so cheap is that I upgraded to the Eclipse Aluminums and it's taking space in my garage, and it needs to leave. Its not the Power DVC but it's a DVC. I also have a Nokia 8290 used 3 months also with a second battery and and 2nd faceplate for $40. And I have a Sanyo SCP 5000 for 30 bucks.

Cisco, what's the rms on the JL amp? I know the Infinity Perfect's are rated at 350rms so aren't you underpowering your sub? Let me know because I'm thinking of getting a 12" Perfect but I can't decide on an amp that will power the sub.

Trust me, my amp really push's the Perfect. If you are in the NYC area, you can take a listen.
