2000 Maxima Aftermkt. HU

Hi,

I recently bought a 2000 Maxima w/ Bose sound system.
I was wondering if I need to replace the whole system (headunit + speakers) if I wanted to install an aftermarket CD Receiver + CD Changer.
If there's adapters available for Bose, how much would they be?
Thanks.

- W.L.

Bose makes it extremely difficult to add any aftermarket stuff. Trust me. It is actually easier (and it's still not "easy") to replace EVERYTHING...HU, wiring, your own amps, speakers, etc. All of the aftermarket wiring harnesses I looked at were not 100% compatible and left too much for guesswork.

Check out my thread I started:

Ive been installing for 5yrs now and do this for newer max's atleast 3-times a week.
If you wanna change out the speakers and deck then you will have to get to each amp and bypass them. All that requires you to do is cut the speaker leads(2-thinner wires out of the 4) goin into the Bose amp and extend them to your new speaker. Then just unplug and cap off(with electrical tape) the main plug goin into the Bose amps.
For the radio all you need is a Metra(2000 and up)dash kit $15.99, a 95+ nissan wiring harness for $15.99 and a Metra Antenna Adapter $10.99.

any questions e-mail me,

Anthony

Well, I've been installing for 16 years and although I've only done one Max (mine) I'm pretty darn good at it. There is only ONE amp, it is mounted to the underside of the rear package shelf. The sub amp is built into the sub itself. Now, the original poster said he just bought a 2K, and it SHOULD be identical to my 2K1 in that respect, no?

Trust me, trust me a hundred times. You will get halfway into "upgrading" the Bose and realize that not only is it easier to replace EVERYTHING, but the SQ you will have when done will be so much worth it.

Hey, Mr. Max. Would you please describe what methods or brands of aftermarket wiring harness(es) you used to attain this?

If you say taht we can use a 95+ wiring harness for the 2k+ or 2k2,

does that mean that when i take out my 2k2 6disc in dash bose unit, it is plug and play with my moms 99??

Because i think it would be a waste because i am removing the 2k2 as soon as i get my car to get my pioneer installed and i want to install it in to my moms car. She has a 99 MAx SE with BOSE crap..

Does the sound quality remain?, assuming that there are no subwoofers connected to the system?
