Hey Tony, can you tell me where you got that peice around your aftermarket headunit? I wanted to install my single din headunit in my '02 Maxima but haven't been able to find a matching trim peice for surround it. Also, how much was it? Thanks,

Nathan

It was made by American International, part # ND-K778 (for 2000+ Maximas). I bought it at my local install shop for $20-25. I also saw a pic somewhere on the org where someone bought the kit from Crutchfield and it looked the same to me.

You can also get one from Nissan, which matches perfectly. When I say it matches perfectly, I mean where the kit and the top of the AC controls meet, it has a grey piece to line up with the grey piece on the AC trim and the surrounding parts also. You could probably get it for a good price from Tustin Nissan.

You know, funny you say that, because I went to my local dealer (where I bought the car) and they guy was really helpful and spent quite a bit of time looking for one, but he said Nissan didn't have one. I was quite perturbed. I was hoping for that "perfect" match that you're talking about. So I bought the other one, which is fine, but I'd much rather have an OEM match!!!

I'd still buy the Nissan one if I could find one. I'll try Tustin.

Thanks!!

Yeah it was the same with me. It took the guy forever to find it, but we finally did. Basically, I asked for the 2000 Maxima GXE AC VENTS with just the tape player. The pocket is a seperate piece.I had seen one when I was buying my car which is why I knew they made them. But just so you know the vents and the surrounding trim are all one piece. I ripped of my vents and compared them to my old vents, and I think this is the part number. E537-5112-200-G05. I hope this helps, and the guy finds it, cuz it does exist! I have one!! I think the problem is when they look for it in the computer, they look for a trim piece, and I believe they should be looking for it under VENTS.

I tried getting the this piece from Tustin but Matt was unable to find it so I called Courtesy Nissan and they knew exactly what I was talking about. I paid around $88 with the org discount. Hope this helps.

Pics of the trim piece

Sorry it took so long to get these pics up but here they are. This is the factory trim piece with the pocket. I opted to put the stereo on the bottome because I didn't want it to fully cover the AC vents, and it is illegal to drive while playing videos

You can see how the sides and the bottom part of the trim piece matche the grey AC trim piece. I don't have a part # but like I said if you tell them you need the AC vents for the 2000 GXE mode with the single din cassette player, it should work.

I've found that a good-quality, properly installed & driven & tweaked 10-inch sub provides more bass than I'll ever need. In fact, most of the time, I've got the sub volume turned almost all the way down for regular listening.
