Wiring dual voice coils????

I had asked this a while back and was still confused on this matter.

In lay mans terms is it possible to get a 2ohm output from "2" dual 4ohm voice coils.
If so, how??

no, it's not possible. you can get 1ohm, 4ohm, or 16ohm loads with 2 4ohm DVC subs.

Yeah, is that what you meant? Two dual 4 ohms subs? Or one dual 4 ohm sub? A single dual 4 ohms sub can be wired parallel, at 2 ohms or series at 8 ohms. Add a second sub and if you have all parallel, 4/4 = 1 ohms, series/parallel = 8/2 = 4 ohms, parallel/series = 2 X 2 = 4 ohms. Or series/series = 4 X 4 = 16.

...this question may have been answered before, but...

Is the only advantage to DVC subs the fact that you can wire them into different ohm loads for your amp, or do they put out more bass?

wiring configuration is the only advantage, they do not put out more bass.

Theoretically they can reach the max SPL more easilly by wiring in parallel. If you halve the impedance you can double the power of the amp. So you can reach the RMS power level with a smaller amp, if the amp can handle the load. Alternatively you can wire them in series for an amp that would otherwise not be able to work with the sub. It's sort of a double edged sword. You can also use a resister, or variable resister to alter the damping characteristics of the sub. See the adire tech papers for more on this aspect of the DVC driver.
