2K2 audio in 99 Maxima

I am taking delivery of my 2k2 next weds or thurs, but i want to remove all bose stuff out..

But my moms car is a 99 SE with bose audio and i was wondering if it is possible to install the 6 disc indashchanger in to my moms car.

OTher than cosemetically different in size (little trimming of the 99 panels should not be that hard), is it all plug and play??

I could tell you what you'd need to do to find out. 1st, obtain a detailed wiring diagram from someone who has the ESM for a 99 with Bose. Then, compare it to the diagram I posted (search for it 2002 Audio Wiring). That will tell you if the wires match. That's the first step. Then, check the size of the 2k2 radio, and verify that it will fit in the 99 dash. The antenna shouldn't be a problem. They are the same connector.

In the 99, you would lose the steering wheel controls.

Once you've checked all that, realized that the 2k2 used 1 external amp, and I believe the that 99 uses individual amps, but I am not 100% sure on this. Again, find someone with a 99 ESM, and PM them. Point them to my post on the 2k2 audio wiring, and have them write up a version like that (with the pin info) for the 99. Then compare notes.

If it all checks out ok, then I'd say try it. But be careful, they may not be compatible, and you could damage your HU or other parts. I can't be responsible for that, only you can.

If the connectors don't check out, there is still hope. Search around town for the wiring harness connectors. Someone makes BOTH ends of it (one male and one female). You could hook one up to the radio, and the other up to the factory harness. Then just wire the wires together to get the signal where you want it. I know that PAC makes a cable call ADD-NIS2. It has both connectors (male/female) on it, and they are wired together. You could cut the wires in the middle, and reconnect them so that the 2k2 outputs would match the 99 inputs.
