Sub firing through pass-through
I've seen a few pics of people firing a subwoofer through the pass-through, and it looks interesting to me.
I'm considering building a custom baffle that closes off the back 4" or so of my trunk, maybe combining some kind of sealed enclosure for a pass-through sub along with a way to hide amps. My concern is not SPL, I'd rather give up some dB and gain stealth & keep useable trunk space. Anyway, here are my questions:
1. Considering that I want a sealed box (no boomy ports for me, not my style), are there any negative effects of having the sub firing right through the pass-through? Assuming that the driver is tightly sealed to the pass-through and that its enclosure is not a POS?
2. Am I better off giving up on this idea and instead getting a JL stealthbox? I love its easy install but wonder if it's really worth the $400.
Sorry about the long post. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Regards,
TOM
