I've been looking at a Pioneer setup as well. The only thing is that with Pioneer, you need to buy the "brain" in addition to the screen. The brain connects to the screen and includes the speaker amp and all of the inputs. You're right. If you want to be able to watch DVDs while using the navi unit, you'll need a DVD player in addition to the navigation DVD player. They have the 7300 DVD model which is the 7" screen with DVD/CD player.

Do you happen to have the model #s for the new units? I looked at the new p6400 but the screen is a little smaller (6.5"). Are you sure the stopped making the 7300? I thought that they just started selling the packages where you get the brain and the 7300 together. I think the model was 7380 for the 8000 brain and 7390 for the 9000. Maybe they've been selling these packages for a while?

Actually the Pioneer one isnt currently available. They stopped making it a little while back. The new one which should be released within the next week or so would include the "brain". Making it so that you dont have to buy it seperate. The price will be slightly higher than before though. I have the 7000CD with the 9000R "brain" with a PS2 to handle my DVDs. With the PS2 you get a DVD player, a video game and can still bring it into your house. I thought/ still think its better than buying it with the DVD player in it. A litttle less convienent, but more options. I may be selling my 7000CD and 9000R brain if your interested.

Yeah, you're right those were the old model numbers. I think they're just changing the model numbers and also they're adding a center speaker to the SYS9DVD.

i just got the new kenwood 911dvd.. you should really look into it.. i looked around for months b4 i bought it to make sure i got what i thought was the best. the touch screen alone is a selling point, aside from it being rated the top choice in countless reviews. btw. the kit comes complete with everything you need. nothing else 2 buy, and it plays dvd's.
