Is my system good?

I am getting an Alpine CDA 7983, 4 6.5 Jl audio speakers, a 250/1 JL audio amp, and a 12 inch Jl audio W3 sub from sixth avenue electronics for about 1160.

yeah thats a pretty fair price. i think you can put in a little bit more for some sort of eq so you can tune your system. if you have the money the alpine digital eq would be a good buy.

the difference after i got my eq put in was like night and day.
just a suggestion.

I got my JL 'system setup like this:
3 JL 10w3 in sealed box.
1 JL 500/1 mono block
(bought @ the same time)
Installed together w/ some older stuff I had:
Kenwood exceleron deck, 4 infinity 6.5s, AudioControl Overdriver, .5 cap.

total cost: $1127

(but I got a hook up though)
I have pic of my setup on my webpage(page 3).

Not bad for your setup but when I had my old system. ( 1 12in Infinity Kappa Perfect w/ Ken. Exceleron Amp.: It didn't give me enough bass so eventually you'll want more bass plus the back seat will drown out a lot of bass with just one sub. You'll notice a big difference when you have people in the back seat also. I recomend at least 2 subs.

Hope you plan on upgrading the electrical wires for your system, the stock ones are crap.

Sounds good though. G-Luck!

if he gets a w7, he will need a far more powerful amp than a 250/1 to power it nicely...also will end up costing a hell of a lot more than a w3. i say port the w3 to around 35hz, and it should sound really nice.

Heh...you buy a system and then ask people if "it's good"? Are you looking to have a stereo that other people think is good, or would you rather use your own ears to judge? Sure, some part of the buying process is research in the product, but you've got to be more specific in what you're looking for in a stereo, rather than just generic "goodness"...and really, that research is usually done before buying the products

Did you listen to any of the eq in action that you're getting? In a shop, someone elses car, etc...all help in you deciding what *you* think sounds good. At this point, you can install all the eq and see what you think afterwards, and if you need to make any changes based off your ears, come back here/consult other car audio informative resources and try to find out what's wrong and how to fix/resolve it.
