I was just wondering if you need an amp for component speakers. I have a Pioneer 740mp HU and Boston 6.75 in the rear. My front speakers rite now are BOSE. Also what are some good components for around 200$

Components sound much "cleaner" and the "clarity" is superb when amped! The built-in amp in the head unit is also fine, but it doesn't sound as good as compared to an amp hooked up to them. Good, quality component speakers are,(IMHO), Polk, Kicker, MTX, Kenwood, and Alpine.

I've been looking for some nice comps for around that price range for a while myself..
What I came up with is that, Focal Polyglass 165v and DEI Neodymium 3065 are the best for the $$$.. They are around 220-230$ though...

I went to my local Best Buy store, they have some decent sounding 6.5 RF 50rms components for $150. Then I went on yahooshopping.com, and found that Infinity Reference series components can be bought for $120!
If my H/U is rated at 45w peak per channel, and I am going to run 4 speakers each 50 watt rms (front:components, rear just 2-ways), what kind of amp do I want, in terms of the peak wattage, rms, and channel?

200 watt Orion 4- channel is 50w per channel..., which will be 50 watts per speaker, which is good for most comp. a 500 watt amp is way to much for comp. Well IMO, but I am fairly new to car audio, im checking specs. on Orion now...Yea the RMS is 50w for 4 channel or 150watt RMS for 2 channel!! Look into it an ask other .Org members, they are mostly all smarter than me, but this is the amp I have running my Phoenix Gold Comp. and I'm more than happy...

I have decided to sell my subwoofer box and amp to replace those factory speakers. Pics available.
