How do you make a false floor?

How do you make a false floor? Do you just put a piece of wood in the trunk a couple of inches above the reg. trunk floor, Bolt it in the sides of trunk, and carpet? If this is the way, what kind of wood would you use to make this false floor, and where can you get carpet that matches your stock carpet?

Just use good quality plywood that isn't warped, full of knots, etc. Use the stock carpet as a template to cut the false floor. Then buy wooden dowels and cut them into sections. The length of the sections (3-4 inches, whatever you want) will be how high the false floor sits off of the actual floor. Then use the sections of dowels as feet and screw them into the bottom of the false floor. You may be able to use the stock carpet, maybe not. Check out automotive stores, carpet stores, automotive upholstery places, etc. for carpet. Does Nissan make a carpeted cargo mat?

Follow Tony's advice...

...for the false floor. You're going to probably want to use some MDF, though, if you plan on mounting your amps & subs to the floor. I built a foundational floor by removing the piece of plywood that covers the spare tire in the trunk, and used the carpet as a template for the shape of the trunk. I'm planning on building a false floor on top of it, but I'm deciding how I plan to cover my amps first. I used 5/8" MDF and am very happy with the results, although I still haven't carpeted it yet. I don't get any kind of rattling noises from the trunk area, now that my 2-10" Kicker subs are sitting on it. Check out my website for pics of the floor.

I went to a local car audio shop and bought about 6 yards of charcoal carpet for $15 about a week ago. All I need now is some glue and some time so I can lay the carpet and make it look like I knew what I was doing
