2k2 Stock non-Bose HU question
2k2 Stock non-Bose HU question
ok, can you run an amp and subs with just the stock non-bose headunit in a 2k2? if so, has anyone done this? i want to start off my whole audio setup with the bass. how good are the stock non-bose speakers? i was thinking of getting an amp to run to the stock speakers, then another to the sub. use the stock speakers for highs and mids, then just get a sub. i dont want to go all out on my system, just want it to sound good and be heard. any suggestions on subs and amps would be appreciated.

im in the same boat as you. i have a 2k2 without bose. i went to my local car audio shop, and asked if i can run subs and an amp to the stock hu, because its cheaper, and putting in an after market hu looks dumb. he said yes. then i asked him if i could amplify my stock speakers, he said its a good idea since even the best hu;s give out 10 wattss. i asked if it will break the speakers, he said it shuldnt, it shuld make them sound better. he also said i can run both amps off the stock hu. so hopefuly by next week im gonna have my system in. im gonna put in a jbl 600.1 2 jl wo 10's in a jl box, and a jbl 80.4 for the mids and highs along with 4 gauge wire. it should run me about 90 bucks with install.E]

I DISAGREE WITH YOU..sorry
i think that you are better off changing the stock speakers because the speakers no matter the amp are going to give you stock sound, i think you should at least change the speakers and keep the HU thats what am doing next week. the install is about $90

You don't have to. Get the PAC SWI-X adapter. You can even program it so that your steering wheel controls will do something else (like pressing two buttons together to turn off the radio for example)

Well, it *is* made by Clarion - same goes with the so-called Bose on the 2k2
But i'll have to disgress though, personally i like how the OEM radio on some Honda's/Acura's sound. Even in base-form, Alpine HU's sound a lot cleaner to me.
Just my 2c
