Removing Bose tweets = more bass??

I recently removed my clarion tweeters from the bose system; that involved snipping the wires along with the resistor attached; I then wired in my Polk audio tweeters and wired it back up. You can't really tell if the highs have changed but I feel that there is more bass in the system now. Is that possible? Thanks.

Probably what you are experiencing is just a difference in perception. By changing tweeters you are altering your high frequency response and thus drawing more attention to your subs, or lower frequencies. Turn down your treble and then you have too much bass. Turn your treble up and you have to turn the bass up to keep it sonically balanced. Everything's relative. Anyone else out there that can word it better than me?

I doubt the rest of your system was changed by swapping tweeters. I've heard a rumor that the Clarion tweets in the Bose system are 4-ohms. If they are you should be fine. If they're not, then you'd better find out what impedence they are before you fry something.

Did you bypass the capacitor?? The capacitor protects the tweeters from low frequencies, and it may affect their response too, if you bypass them.
