Fosgate 800.2 under the front seat?
I was wonder if anyone has put a fosgate 800.2 under the front passenger seat? I was thinking of doing this and then one 12" boston pro in a fiberglass box. This is for a 2002 Max SE with power seats.

fosgates are known to run pretty hot.. in the summer it could get TOO hot under the seat since there is so little air circulation
why dont you just run power wire to the trunk and put everything back there?

Yea my 800.2 gets pretty hot in the trunk. It never shuts down but it does get pretty damn hot, I bet it would mess up if it was cramped under a hot seat, possibly go into protection after a lot of use. In the manual it suggests mounting it standing up (like on the side of a box). I want to get a better vertical mounting spot soon because I don't like how it gets hot.

in general though, most good car installs have the amp in the trunk.. on my integra i just mounted the amp on the back of the rear seats since it's a hatch and the seats come down..
if you REALLY needed to you could put the amp under the seat, although i would highly suggest having 2 fans for cooling.. one for intake, one for exhaust.
good luck
ooooooooooooh what year 800?..i had the 800a4..and 800a2 not the new sytle..but the older trapezoid shaped ones. They Get HOT....i ran my 800a2 at 2 ohms each channel..bascially its maximum..Drove two HX2 DVC subs back home from LA..took about 5 hours...pouding all the way..yes it gets SUPER hot..but dosent shut off..it gets hot enough that you dont wanna touch it for more than a sec. Good old rockford...thats OLD rockford..unfortuanetly i havent had much luck with the newer prodcuts..they cut too many corners =(
the 800 is too big for under the seat...unless u don't use the two side covers...i use to have it under there no prob...my 95 has a vent under the seat...when i drive air **** in..when i have a/c on cold air blows...wat better way of cooling an amp...and yes it does get hot...
are you running the 1100a2 at 2ohms? if so that is why.
the only time my RF went into thermal (this is one of the old model blade style) was when i was running it at a 2ohm mono load.. and even then, like you said it only did that on really hot days..
when running it at 4ohm mono it was rock solid even on the hottest days

I tried running my 700S (RF's 800.2 replacement for 2002 model year) under the passenger's seat. It kept shutting down, but I live in Florida too. So I moved it to the back of my box in the trunk, and it's easily accessible via the trunk pass-through in the back seat. Also, there's enough space there to allow the heat to spread out, causing less shutdown. My amp hasn't shutdown since I've moved it.
