Crud, that's the weekend immediately after finals week for me... and I have a final the day before (Friday).

I doubt I'll be able to make it back from Los Angeles in time, let alone recover from finals.

NorCal guys... if you can go, I'd strongly suggest it!!

I may take the ACR instead. Given how poorly I've done with it in the last few event days I really need the seat time in Skippy. http://www.4d-sport.com/pages/758662/index.htm

Already signed up

Although I'm taking my TTZ not the Maxima, but it would be great to see how a Maxima would fare at the event. If anyone goes, I'll be driving a Cherry Red Perl TwinTurbo Z, so feel free to say hello. I haven't done much to the Maxima in way of modifications (Just the front sway bar), but its never too late to start.

BTW, its a great event, I've been before and its well organized and great fun.

Sounds like fun

But I need tires, and am not too keen on ClubZ since I own a Z31 Turbo (they don't exist to ClubZ, and I never liked that sort of crap). I would be more apt to run my Maxima if I could get a set of tires in time, though I may have a split axle boot which would end it all right there. Been an exspensive month.

I will see if I can make it, and post here if I end up going. I have some time on Thunderhill and actually like it the best. Very nice track, though a pain to get to. Been wanting to run the Maxima there for a while.

We'll see, most likely show up for a NASA HPDE tho.

I've driven a Max at Thunderhill. I had a 2k 5 speed with Eibach's/Tokicos and some 235/45 Dunlop SP8k's. The car was not bad for a fwd. Biggest weakness was the brakes. A set of track pads is a must, otherwise you'll be fading all over the place, as I was.

That said, I was able to keep up with some "sports cars" through the corners, but was obviously out powered on the straights. A couple of courteous drivers would let me pass them -- funny to see the looks on their faces.

Driving on the track is a blast. Have fun.

EVENT CANCELLED!!

The weather forecast has been ominous, Pacific Gas and Electric bracing for "gale force" winds. The organizers made the decision late last night to cancel.

So, the chance to demonstrate the prowess of a great handling 4 Door Sports Car in the rain is postponed but, possibly, not gone as they're talking about rescheduling for rainy January (heavy SO-2s saved for another day).

And in response to Redline, the expression is priceless each and every time the big family car out performs a "sports car". First time on course with caNISMO running in SCCAs Advanced Group, only two cars were able pass me on the straight, one, a current Gen 911 Turbo which I caught in the slow stuff (ask Brian W., he saw the video) and a turbo Miata (fastest and best handling trailered car - I WANT ONE). With the Maxima I passed everything else, including a Kumho Victoracer clad M-3. My tires at the time were Bridgestone RE-71 225/55 x 16. With today's 225/50 x 16 Michelin MXX3 Pilot Sports and the Cattman Gen 2 upgrade I'd likely do better (more front suspension travel at lower ride height).

I don't think this is a totally unique experience as I've witnessed the video from Buttonwillow of, Cheston, Jay Lee, etc.

Redline! You're still alive! Are you still out in Santa Clara... with the Mustang GT?

As for track use... stock brakes are generally fine, but you'll need a set of race pads. SS lines and performance fluid are nice, too. Barry, what kind of pads are you running in the Maxima right now?

I'm running Hawk HP+ up front (installed early 2001) but, I think, Jay Lee prefers the the Hawk Blues. The rears are less important and I have the KVRs I originally installed in 1998. I've been using AP Racing Dot5.51 brarake fluid in the Maxima but recently put ATE Blue in the ACR.

I'm still here...I work in Sunnyvale now...I lurk here occasionally as I like to see what's going on with my favorite 4DSC.

After spending a bunch of money modding the GT, I decided I wanted something better. So I bought a 99 C5....black (of course), 6 speed, with a few aftermarket goodies for now. It just turned 15k miles, as the car was a garage queen in its previous life. I plan to outfit the C5 for light track duty and hope to get some events in by spring.

Did you ever get that elusive Maxima??

C5? `99 with 15k miles? NICE! My dad's looking at new cars right now, C5 was on his list, but he's too practical for a 2-door. Doh.

I'm currently trying to sneak OBX headers on to the `00 3.2TL in the garage...
