What class for S/Ced Maxes
What class do the supercharged guys run in… street modified? Does anyone swap belts and run N/A for AutoX to stay in STS. I like the competitiveness of STS, not sure how I will do in SM.
I would guess SM. in Houston, we have a STU class which is basically anything goes as long as you're running street tires.
I bumped myself out of that to run SM when I looked at the entry list last round and I was up against a Porsche GT3, several EVO and STi, and a couple Cobras.
now I'm just running against a couple M3s, one EVO and a Cobra.

Here's some of my competition in SM for the area I live.
2000 Pontiac Firehawk
2004 Dodge SRT-4
1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX
1991 Toyota Celica
1996 Ford Probe
1995 Ford Escort 50.805
1992 Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4
1993 Nissan NX2000
1991 Audi 200 20 Valve
1967 VW Karmann Ghia
Should be fun. I still say it really doesn't matter all that much what you're driving as much as how you drive it. I've seen the biggest piece of crap clean house a few times already.
I have noticed an STS2 class around here lately. Any idea what that is?

the STS2 is a 2-seater class based on STS. just like SM2 is compared to SM. Maxima is obviously not applicable.
The last event I ran in SM:
95 M3 BMW
95 M3 BMW
03 LANCER EVO MITSUBISHI
85 CAMARO IRO CHEVROLET
94 COBRA FORD
03 MITSUBISHI EVO
95 NISSAN 240SX
93 MAXIMA NISSAN
93 TAURUS SHO FORD
the SHO just entered the class so that he could run against me directly. his entire mission in life right now is to beat the 'other' 4 door sedan.
STU class in that same event:
04 PORSCHE GT-3
92 CIVIC SI HONDA
03 LANCER EVO MITSUBISHI
02 WRX WAGON SUBARU
02 WRX SUBARU
00 CIVIC HONDA
02 IMPREZA WR SUBARU
02 WRX WAGON SUBARU
02 PONTIAC TRANS-AM
91 CIVIC SI HONDA
93 HONDA PRELUDE
02 IMPREZA WR SUBARU
93 HONDA PRELUDE
01 CIVIC HONDA
93 CIVIC SI HONDA
00 INTEGRA ACURA
00 PRELUDE HONDA
A couple of the civics and the integra are boosted... the Porsche just needs to be put in a class where the rest of us can compete. it's consistently more than a second faster than any other car in the class on a 40 second course.

Ahh I see, that would explain why a Del Sol fell in that class.
SM should be pretty fun, but I'm wondering how much if any the S/C will be an advantage. The Firehawk is almost untouchable, he consistently has the fasted time of the whole field. I'd really turn heads if I could beat him, but he's an excellent driver with a bad @ss car. The SRT-4 and GSX will be hard to beat too, but good competition.
Suppose now I can run slicks or race tires though! Just another opportunity to spend more $$$...

Yup.. good luck getting to them. one of my biggest problems at Auto X is overpowering it coming out of the turns.. the SC will probably make things even worse on that point, but it's always controllable if you pay attention.
IMO, it's not about the power, it's about learning to drive and control the car.. even if I added 100hp to my car, I wouldn't be much faster, if any at all.

Well in regards to overpowering out of the turn. I have a SC and for sure power in the turn the power will yank the tires from under you. (It does that in a str8 line too, without launching)
A LSD would probably be a worthwhile investment for road course racing............

I already have LSD and still have problems with it. you can only use (basically) 1G of applied force on the tire total. you can use it for accelerating, braking, or turning. you pick the ratios. go over that and you spin, slide, or lock the tires..
thus, lots of power and lots of turning= straight line and tire spin..
