MEVI - will it help A/X or hurt, or neutral

Simple question, many variables!

Since I seem to have spent a good deal of a/x runs in the 3.5-5.5 K RPM range, does the MEVI actually hurt a/x times? (nationals with the fater course might be closer to break-even, it seems to me)

And a wild separate topic- Anyone got any ideas about how to potentially offset the MEVI mid-range performance hit? (just a brainstorm topic)
What about perfectly fitting butterfly shutters...?(just felt the need to throw something out there)

I suppose for Tracking the Max, it is hands-down a good mod. Right?

I think it's pretty much a wash either way. The power difference is so slight and the time spent in the exact RPM's so short. Driver skill and handling mods will always win over power in auto-x. That said I'm still tuning for the most tq within that usable range and don't want to leave the ST classes yet.

For tracking and hotlapping though I'd think a blower would provide much greater benefits than any improvement in just the intake manifold.

I'd love to go S/C but its $4.5- 5K and on top of that I would have to get my ECU re-programmed. I wonder if it would make me not want a new car for 2-3 years though... then the cost would probably be worth it! And S/C + MEVI probably is aweseome on 5-spd.

you can get a blower for about 2500-3000 off here used ussually already with som mods like bov etc...

I got mine for 2600 2 years ago. and if you think the blower may be worn out it only costs 400 for vortech to rebuild it. And for track days a blower makes all the difference. in the straights I can pass ws6 ls1 etc.. great feeling!! and based on the driver can pull on them through the corners.
