Anyway, any one here Ice Race? I've been contemplating trying it out with the Max. I have winter tires, but no studs, so not sure if it's worth my time or not.

Ice racing will tear the **** out of your car. Don't do it unless you have a beater to do it in. Most people that do this use $200 cars w/ no power mods.

curbs, tear up cars? Where I went to watch there was nothing to hit for football fields... There was an RX-8, several Evo 8's and STI's, a new accord, etc.

Ice does damage. Lots of damage. Let me edit. Most people that do this have $200 beaters OR RALLY CARS. LOL The accord is certainly an oddity.

Ours is on the lake, so there are no curbs to hit , just ice to fall through and die. Something about being on a frozen lake that just always makes me a bit uncomfortable.

They seem to plow the track pretty good, so really it's mostly just getting snow packed in places it shouldn't that is the biggest problem. The fun part is that the track can be so big some of the guys with studded tires hit as high as 90 MPH or more. Definitely the most fun with a rally style car, that's for sure. Amazing though how well a front driver can rotate when set-up properly on that stuff.

I'll be entering my Max in an ice-autocross this weekend. It's on a frozen lake, four feet thick. It will be a slow-speed, low-g, event around cones, with lots of run-off area. This is just for fun, while my Solo II, C-Stock prepared Miata is still in hibernation. I don't have studs, but I do have four Dunlop Graspic ice radials. If it's too rough I won't risk damaging my Max.
