how do you know where to go? Like i tried looking at the cones and stuff, but it looked just like a parking lot with cones set out by kids during play time... Do you just watch others first and then learn where to go?

I went off-course on my first two runs...third run I did slow just to get it right (57 seconds : )
the vids are my 4th and 5th runs (53 and 52 secs) and my last run was 51 secs.......
the cones are laid out to tell you where to go....sideways cones point towards where to go...double cones you go between....on this particular course, you had to double-cross the course, so it was a bit tricky....alot of errors on first and second runs for people....then you watch all day and by the time the afternoon runs come up, you know the course..
bigger SCCA courses don't double back like this one, so they're a little easier to read....

After a few events it becomes second nature to read the cones and the best drivers can even figure it out as they go. Often you get to walk a course 3-6 times beforehand and memorize it in your mind. Then it's just executing correctly what you memorized.
