As my ride-along passengers usually say to me during auto-x'ing...."sling that big boat"

anyhow, sounds like you did well. I would love to have courses that size around here - we're usually limited to stadium parking lots or paying tons of money to go to a real road course track....with the right setup, the maxima is really a sleeper car for auto-x/road course racing - especially if you get some room to open it up. I run middle-of-the pack in small courses (top speeds around 50) against mostly STIs, small sportscars, and M3's - I'm always the biggest car there.

to racing maximas

Not sure, do you have any Eibach lowering springs? After looking at your pictures I think the Eibachs would of help you handle better in the turns and eliminated most of the evil brake dip. Overall, way to represent, looks like you guy's (an girl) had a blast. RESPECTING...

I took my max auto crossing in april and let me tell you, from all the hard breaking and sharp turns, the max just plain out sucks. Still love her though. To much body roll, alot of understeer and the biggest downfall but to the crowds amusement, every single turn i dipped into and accelerated out of, the front tires will bellowing smoke down the whole track, everyone there thought i had a monster under the hood but realisticly I couldn't put traction down, and the salom isn't to fun with our cars either.
Definetly could be a contender for road racing but not for auto x, espically when you mostly going against, sti's, evo's, m3's vipers, ( race inspired vehicles)

But a lot of that has to do with the type of course that was set up. If it's a tight, short, slow autox, the cars probably would not do well. However, the course that Deuse described would more in the Max's favor as he demonstrated. There are other Max owners here that do very well and BEAT their competition. Too many variables...course, driver, equipment. Some of the competition you mentioned were designed with good handling in mind, because the manufacturers KNOW those cars are gonna be driven hard. You have to work hard to drive a Max hard (stock) but it can be improved.
Personally, I gave up autox a long time ago, just b/c I was tired of getting a :30 to 1:00 run then waiting a hour b4 the next run. YAAWWWWNN
