Doesn't anyone ever post their results here?
I usually do (even if nobody cares), but I would be kind of cool to see some others' results so we can all get an idea of how a given maxima (and its setup and driver) can do against different cars in the various classes we all run in.
It would be a nice sticky thread or something...a place to post results or a link to your results.
just a thought.....

I think results would be all over the place. New vs experienced drivers, very competitive points clubs vs fun clubs, etc. My results are on my cardomain site if anybody wants to pull from there.
I was just thinking maybe a sticky thread just for posting of results...you guys have seen how I do a little "writeup" after some of mine with thoughts, etc....That's kind of what I was referring to...

What's up Irish? Like the post below you says it all depends on who and where and at what level you race at. For me Every local region I ran at I ruled execpt my home region where the National champ of sts ran also. My goal was to come with in 1 sec of his time. As we all know that's an **** whipin in autocross, but I knew if I could do that I could be 95% of all the other drivers out there in other regions. And that's what I did when I took this a little mor seriously.
As for how good the maxima is. I'd say the 4 gen is best for autox. It's the lightest maxima and has plenty of power where u need it. That being said I say the 4 gen maxima is at best a upper middle class contender. In other words If you're beating 91-94 SER sentras, ACR NEons, Civics SI, and imprezas then their cars are not setup right or their drivers can't drive worth ****.
I'll post my results 'cause I'm bored, ha.
Went to the NNRJ SCCA auto-x yesterday at Englishtown, and ran pretty poorly. I ran STS, it was my second autocross ever. I should've been placed in NSTS, but it was a good (and humbling) experience to run with vets. I got destroyed by a Neon, a few RSX-S's, a Civic, a Scirocco, an Integra GSR, a Prelude, and suprisingly, an '00 Eclipse (though, looking back at previous results, it seems that he runs well consistently). I think that most of the guys were running on R-comps, while I ran on these:
Needless to say, I was
. I really can't wait til I get my new wheels/tires, even though they'll bump me up to STX (235's on 8" wide wheels). I thought I did alright with my setup, though. Ran the Illuminas at a setting of 5 all around, tires press. 42 hot up front, 39.5 hot in the rear. I came in 8th out of 8 in STS (lmao), 79 out of 107 with PAX, and I'm not sure how I did without PAX overall. Results will probably be up here soon. I saw another silver 6th gen max there, but didn't get a chance to talk with him, and I'm not sure if he's a .orger. You other guys should come up to e-town or Giants Stadium auto-x's, I'd have more fun getting schooled by you guys than by Civics or Neons
. let me know if anyone is planning on attending the Auto-X's in october, there are a few at Giant's Stadium, PNC, and E-Town that I'm going to try to attend.
EDIT: Oh, and I have a video of two of my runs, right now it's 21 megs, but I can downsize it if anyone wants to see/host it.

My results for the day: Ran a CDC autocross today which is basically a grab-bag with no classes but an indexed (handicapped) ranking/time scale based on the previous season results. The course was pretty fast for the kind of lots CDC runs on, with speeds up to about 50 for the fastest cars and FTD of 32.2 seconds (at least that I recall). Based on watching the first head and some of my usual competitors at CDC (larger sedans and 4-series Bimmers), I got ready to run with the plan that a time of 36.5 would be considered a "success" for the day and would get me in the top-10 indexed.
Long story short...first run was a DQ as there was some loose gravel on the side of the stop gate that I came into hot and the ABS kicked in....knocked the stop cone over (first time ever).....After that it was good though. 2nd run of the day was mid-36's, and 3rd and 4th runs were 35.7-35.9. They gave us 4 in the morning due to low turnout since everyone was on vacaition this weekend.....In the afternoon I started off with a 35.5 and then let the wife ride with for the final two.
Wouldn't you know, with the wife on board I ran a 35.4 and a 35.08, which put me almost 2 secs ahead of the fastest G35 (a sedan) and behind only one BMW, a well-setup M3.....
There were still runs going on when I bailed out to run errands, but if all stands as it was I should be looking at top half actual time and top 10 or so indexed, which I would consider a very good day.
I had a number of car setup changes that had a positive effect, which I'll post about seperately...

Well, where ever I end up is directly related to how many Mini's are in GS, if there is 4, I'm 5th, if there is 6, I'm 7th. If, there is 4 Mini's, but all of them have co-drivers, I will end up 9th. I think a Focus on R-compounds got me last time by a hair too, of course, new baby=no R compounds for me, so I'm not that disappointed.
Results huh? How about 37th in class
Pics and writeups to come this weekend after I unload the car and get some sleep.

Doesn't look like there's a single car in your class there that is within 500lbs of the weight of a maxima
that's part of the problem of running a Maxima in STS.
and don't touch street mod on a national level unless you've got $100k+ in the car.
STX or STU are about the only places a Maxima might be able to shine nationally. even then you're going to have some TOUGH competition with EVO and STi drivers.

I need to get 15 posts before I can start a thread on my results.
I ran my 96 SE automatic in it's first auto-x ever today. 6 cars in class (GS), Cooper S, 1st gen Neon, 2nd gen Neon (2 drivers), Volvo 850 GLT and the Maxima.
The car is BONE STOCK with the exception of 16x8" RX-7 wheels w/245/45/16 Hoosiers. I was happy to find that the wheels and tires fit with no spacers and no rubbing.
I was pretty happy with the results, I came in 3rd place losing to the 2nd gen Neon by about 1sec and the 1st gen Neon by .071 sec. Pretty much a tie for 2nd place in a 4-door semi-big sedan with no mods.

What tire pressures did you use? I'm gonna try my A3S03's for the first time in a couple weeks.

I did beat one, out of class, but that guy was the typical go way to fast into every corner type of driver.
. He isn't the best driver in the world but I don't think he thought I was a threat either.I know the wheels will bump me out of GS, it is a local event, no one is quite aware of what Maximas come with and it isn't the ideal car for the class.

I haven't beat one in class yet, my issue is that Otto's Mini of Westchester is sponsoring the entire Solo II season, so they bring it....every week.
I was thinking of getting those wheels, but want to get some lightweight 17's for some of the road race stuff I do, auto-x is fun, but not the ideal place for the maxima platform.
You lowered on those rims?

Some sub-17lb wheels will be #1 investment for next season (that, and 245-width tires)
The results are in. My competition was tough.
I PAXED 12th out of 123 drivers. My competition PAXED 5th and 10th, both in a '02 Neon.

I'm pretty happy about the position given the car's ability in class
