interesting thing i saw on the SCCA forums...

In relation to a female STXL driver who has several "wins" in a class where she was the only car entered, and said she was getting tire contingency cash for it:

Andy Hollis wrote:
OT, but how did you get tire money in a one-person class? All the contigencies I know of require at least three. Am I missing something?

she replied:
Yokohama's contingency program doesn't have a minimum class size. So $250 for "winning" first. It was one of the deciding factors in us trying out a set of Yokohamas, actually. I'm not "proud" of defecting to ladies when I could have run open, but the $500 for the 2 Tours is helping us afford an extra set of tires.
being a female would have its perks, I guess. most of the events I've been to have very few females running.....

Why do they even make separate classes for women. It's autocross..... not wrestling.

I mean, I have nothing against her getting a free set of tires but wouldn't it be more interesting for her to run in a class with other people?

If I could run in a class by myself for that deal, I would. For me, winning my class is not a priority (or a reality), so i just autocross against myself anyways, and try to pick out other cars there that day that are similar in size/power/mods to the maxima....regardless of class. My goal is always to beat all the full-size 4-doors out there and try to take out some of the WRX's while I'm at it

As to her, why not? She is still competing against everyone else using the PAX system....might as well get some free tires while you're at it

i would do it for tires....but it is BS that they get their own class....we have a few ladies in local events and a couple are just as competive as teh men

It's been old school thinking for years with SCCA and women. The sport is still heavily dominated by males. There's no advantage for men except for their years of experience, which results in fewer trophies for the women.

While I don't have a problem with her getting those tires, I think it's fugged up that women get to be in their own class. Didn't they fight for all those years so things would be equal? Like previously stated, this isn't wrestling. In fact, women have the weight advantage.......(usually )

Hello!

My name is April Bennett and I have been surrounded by auto crossing ever since I was a little girl. Practically every guy in my family has been involved in racing in one way or another. Now, I work in television and I have noticed there is no human-interest show on television for people who are involved in grassroot motorsports. I have decided to do research on a show that would interest YOU. I want to hear about what YOU want to see on a television show about auto crossing. I want to make it a human-interest show. I want it to show how much fun auto crossing can be for the everyday American. I want people to see that you don’t have to sneak around at night to race, there are people all over the United States involved in auto crossing one way or another.

Please let me know what YOU want to see in a motorsports show. I would greatly appreciate the help. This will be a show made by auto crossers for auto crossers.

Let me know what you think at bendueprod@gmail.com. I will greatly appreciate the help!

I can’t wait!
