Autocrossing the Max competively is a lost cause. RWD dominates autocross. Integra, Mini, Civic, CRX (maybe Mazda3 & RSX) are the few exceptions. That said it can still hold it's own against 80% of local drivers as it's easy to drive fast. FWD has the advantage of being able to PULL you through slaloms and out of trouble when you experience oversteer, especially in wet. Adjust the chassis and suspension enough and you'll have a great time.

FWIW, in road racing the RWD advantage is reduced. As shown in Speed World Challenge and other series there's plenty of FWD that can hold their own.

Very true. This also has to do with the cars being setup properly though.

IMO the main disadvantage that FWD cars have on the race track is that the front tires will heat up very quickly, and they won't stop. You will just understeer more and more.

Good information.

At the moment I'm going to fix the issues I have with the Maxima and just drive it, do an autoX in it and then make my decision from there.

I autocross the ZHP all the time and its awesome. Only been doing it for a year though.

One thing I did learn though was this guy in a 325i (stock) keeps kicking my ***. It's probably more worth it for you to improve your driving skills in the Maxima, maybe take an autox school (if they have them in your area). Then when your driving skills are better find the car you want.
