Classing your car
In addition to the the SCCA Rulebook and Mouton's site this is a nice reference page. Compares Stock, Street Touring, Street Prepared, and Street Mod classes by allowed mods.

Evolution school
The biggest improvement one can make is to improve the driver. Aside from seat time, the best autocross instruction anywhere is the Evolution School.

Somebody just did a summary of the school's phase 1 including a video on pg2 of how they teach. I've done both the phase 1 and 2 myself.
