direct tire online = clowns? (rant)
direct tire online = clowns? (rant)
Has anyone else had a bad customer experience with direct tire online?
I bought Falken Ziex 512... $108 ea, including shipping, a good price.
BUT...
I specified that the tires should be shipped to a service station near my office to be mounted. I have a printout of the online order form, clearly showing the service station as the "shipping address," and of course different from the "billing address" (my home).
After a couple of days I decided to check the online shipping tracker. Hmm. Shows a delivery address in my home town, not where my office is.
Email. "Please fix this."
Fairly rapid reply. "Our fault, no problem, we will take care of it."
Checked the shipping tracker again. Sure enough, "customer requests change of delivery address." Aren't computers wonderful, you can do this stuff so fast. I don't like it that they blamed their screw-up on me, but... hold on... it's still going to my house!
This time a phone call to the 800 number. "Oh, I see what happened. I can fix this. Don't worry about it. I'll fix it right away." Useful clue... that guy
was completely incurious about the correct shipping address.
Well, I didn't have time to check again. You already know where the tires showed up... fortunately a few minutes before I was going to leave the house, at least I was there to receive the shipment. I got the tires into the trunk and back seat area and delivered them myself. Only a few scuffs on the interior.
They screwed it up originally... OK, s**t happens. But - TWICE - they assured me they could and would fix it. The first time, yeah, they "fixed" it all right, they repeated the original error, apparently moments after sending an email in which they themselves acknowledged the error. The second time they apparently did nothing at all! Room temp IQs or what?
