Blue Mountain Nissan

in Walla Walla, WA.

I guess I'm just ranting, but here goes.

1) Took the car to have the A/T flushed out. I specifically told them I wanted to buy my own synthetic ATF and have them put it in. Service manager (and ex g/f) told me the car comes shipped from Nissan with synthetic ATF from the factory & they will put synthetic ATF back in for me.

2) Asked them to check the hood rattle/squeak. Told them about the TSB.

3) Got car back. They told me they couldn't reproduce the hood squeak. They must be freakin' deaf!

4) There was now a major slipping/hesitation when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear at WOT. Never happened before.

5) Called Nissan Motor Corp. They confirmed that the ATF put into the car from the factory is Nissan Matic D ATF...which is not synthetic.

6) Went back to dealership. Service manager apologized...didn't realize Nissan Matic D was not synthetic. She thought that because it was so expensive it must have been synthetic.

7) I looked up hook rattle/squeak TSB on Internet. TSB explained how to fix problem...some sort of seal that needs to be placed between the top of the headlight housing and the hood. I performed a little experiement...took car on drive down the same stretch of street 3 separate times and counted the number of hood squeaks whenever I drove over bumps, potholes and manhole covers. I then placed a shop towel over each headlight housing and closed hood. Drove down same stretch of road 3 times...not a single squeak.

8) Took shop mechanic for a test drive. He confirmed A/T slippage.

9) Made appointment to have A/T slippage TSB work done on the car. They said they needed a week or so to get solenoids & parts in. I explained to them I also wanted to have the hood squeak TSB done and that it wasn't my fault if the person they had drive the car was deaf. They said okay.

10) Purchased Amsoil synthetic ATF.

11) Took car in this morning. They had the parts for the A/T TSB. They told me they would have to have my car all day because they needed to take it to a body shop because "the body shop people have more sensitive ears to hear things like hood rattles, etc". They evidently didn't order in any of the hood squeak TSB parts. I would have to make another appointment if they could verify the squeak.

12) I told them to have their mechanic get into the car with me and take a 2 block ride down a small, bumpy residential street and assured them ANYONE with ears could hear the squeak & there was no need to take my car to a body shop and have it all day. He said not to worry about it, they would just order the parts for the TSB and fix the hood. But I would still need to make another appointment after the parts came in.

13) I told them I was taking my car home and that when the additional parts came in for the hood squeak problem I would make an appointment to have both things done at once so I wasn't without my car for yet another day. The jerk told me "My mechanic isn't going to be happy for being out of work today if you take your car home!" Hmmmmm..."Not my fault. Maybe you should apologize to him for not ordering the parts you needed to fix my car like I asked you over two weeks ago".

14) Elderly gentleman comes in. He wants to know why his Cadillac isn't finished. He apparently brought it in Monday and here it is Wednesday and they haven't even started on the work. The employee explains that the mechanic got whatever codes he needed from the car but because their Internet connection has been down they haven't been able to look up what the codes mean. Damn that guy wasn't happy. I can't blame him. I figured, don't they have a telephone? Couldn't they have called another dealership or Nissan directly to get the meaning of the codes instead of keeping the guy's car for two days and not doing anything to it?

15) I also asked them for a refund on the money I paid for the Nissan Matic D ATF they put in my car ($80). Guy coudn't do a thing about it. "You'll have to come in when the service manager gets back in town from vacation."

WHAT MORONS!!!
