Another dealership I am wondering about is Napleton Nissan in Highland, IN.

Outside of that.......

Both Hawkinson and Kelly have made changes in their service management staff. Hawkinson's asst service manager came from an Acura dealership.

Continental Nissan

I had a great experience there. Also, have had three TSB's done there with no questions. Ask for Tim Duda the sales mgr. great guy.

There is no "Schaumburg Nissan". Maybe you mean "Woodfield Nissan" in Schaumburg... at any rate... Woodfield Nissan is a #1 dealer in the Chicago area... very helpful sales staff, very friendly and helpful service staff... great guys to work with and they are definitely focused on customer service and customer satisfaction.

The Jokes part applies so well. I tried calling them not too long ago. They have an automated answering system (well, it's just a comercial) and after about a minute of listening to this you finally get the operator. Asked for the Svc. dept. and was on hold for another minute, the operator answerd again and I said "still holding for svc." She paged them again to be picked again by the operator so I got the "they must be really busy" (it was about 8-8:30 am). I gave them the benefit of the doubt and said I'd call later.

At around 10:30-11:00 am I called back to give them a try and got the same treatment being left on hold twice more for 4-5 minutes. I would have hung up, but just wanted the pleasure of telling the operator that I'd call Northshore (who probably didn't give a **** anyway or was too dumb to get the slam). Great customer service...

As for Northshore, it's just okay service and pricey. I miss the old guy Paul, who they moved to the Buick dealership. Northshore hasn't been the same since. As I was dropping my car at Northshore, a mechanic in a hurry was done w/ a Jetta and backed it up and spun the tires on the way out of the building until one of the front tires grabbed on one of the floor grates, very nice. All right there for a few of us customers to see.

Which of the dealerships around here have decent prices for parts? I went to Star (even though Mid City is way closer) for an oil filter and it was $7.05 with tax... I bought 1 since I needed to do an oil change... They wanted about $16 each for platinum plugs and about $4 each for copper plugs...

Any decent priced places around here? I'm going to have some stuff replaced by my mechanic with OEM parts so I thought I might as well pick them up from around here so I don't have to pay s/h online from other cheaper Nissan dealers in other states...

They said 'couldn't be the switch because the LED still comes on'. That should have been my first clue to get my car the hell outta there. I continued to let them look at my car for about a week replacing the AC Control unit, and a few other parts with no success which ended with them frying the ECU. When I told them they were going to eat the cost, they said it was going to need to be replaced anyway. I called bull**** and told them to wait till the new one was in before they made any claims like that. New ECU arrives, AC still broken. I take my car home. I did manage to get a rental car out of them free of charge because of my problems tho and they did end up eating the cost of everything that whole week.

Dealership I trust 100% - Union Nissan in Waukegan.
Over the years my family and friends bough over 20 Nissan's from them! The Salespeople are great down to earth folk from WaukTown
Their Service Department is small compared to others but they have very knowledgeable techs that work hard and the same service managers for over 8 years. Oil changes are always $9.99 and you get a car wash with everything!!!

Some of you know that the transmission on my 99SE w/51K went out. The car won't go in reverse, 1st gear is shot and it makes some whacky noise...
Since I live 30 min. from Union and 5 min. away from Libertyville Nissan and it's a bigger shop I decided to get it fixed there under 4year/60K warranty.

Brought the car in, the service guy was nice and told me there are no promises regarding the transmission but I'll have an answer in 2 days. Today he called and told me the new transmission is ordered and I'll have my baby by Saturday!!! Personally I thought I would be accused of abusing the transmission and to my surprise not a single argument!!!

Unlike: I dealt with Arlington Nissan in Buffalo Grove over the years since I lived in Wheeling and every service seems like an uphill battle!!! I got accused of tampering with the odometer!!! At that time our cars got their oil changed every 3K on the dot at the dealership... One time I brought it in for the oil change and he accuses me!!! I was offended and ****ed! I told him to check his computer and tell me the odometer readings from the last few changes and then look at the reading on the odometer; then I told the idiot to do the math! the miles were right on! After that and a few other unpleasant experiences I will never visit that dealership again!!!

Thumbs up to: Union & Libertyville

I know too many peeps that have had gripes with Arlington Nissan. I had to take a co-worker up there for repairs to his gf's Max and they took forever and a day to get the crap done. Plus, I talked to a former service manager at Kelly (who did a stint at Arlington) and he told me that Arlington was FOS in general.

Shopped 4 dealers before buying my 03. Liberty was by far the best. Jeff Bogdala used to race a twin turbo 300Z. Sat me down and immediatly said $500 over invoice and the $2000 rebate (dealer cash?) comes off the total. They love tuner cars (had a 350Z with about 20 mods on the floor- JIC struts and exhaust, CF Front strut brace, Volk wheels etc) Jeff is about the only sales guy that knows more about the cars than I do.

Woodfield is a bit shady, good price on the car in the ad but then they do the bait and switch and the price goes way up.Bought my 01 there but it wasn't fun.

Arlington same as Woodfield

Fair Oaks, high prices, people who don't know their product and worst of all-- they glue on this awful rubber trim around the wheel wheels and it is a mandatory option--every car had it. And these people have the stones to charge for this eyesore!!

Liberty for service is fast and done right. They wash the car every time! And Jeff and I talk Nissan and different aftermarket parts.

When I was looking for a max I went to 5 dealers.
Star Nissan, in Niles, dealt with me fairly but didn't have a good selection.
Evanstan Nissan encouraged me to drive 60 on Ridge road but negotiated like the 1970's.
Fergus Nissan had me test drive with a guy who had bad breath and a sales manager that looked down at me with his eye glasses down on his nose and wouldn't budge on price.
Woodfield wouldn't budge on price and was highest of all.
I bought at M'Lady, Crystal Lake. They were 700.00 cheaper than the cheapest. That being said after purchase they told me that my trans shifts were normal.
When I brought it to Woodfield they gave me a new trans and on a second occasion found another problem right away.
So I'm thinking that no one dealership is going to be perfect for all (sales or service).

This is true... but you need to get to know people in the dealership. Get to know the service manager and a tech or two... when I go to Woodfield Nissan, I only go now when I know that one of the techs I know is working, so I have him working on it (which, btw, the two techs I know both own Maximas).

Just so you know... NEVER go to the dealer for parts. You can get parts cheaper on Ebay, the Org, or via Dave B or Courtesy Nissan.

i just recently had a couple of good experiences with Bill Kay Nissan over on Ogden in Downers Grove. They first time that i was there, they took care of my electrical problem in twenty minutes. Last week when i went there for my 60k service, the tech found "$1800" worth of stuff wrong. Joe, the service rep, who i talk about modding with, said that i could do most of the crap myself. the bill was sstill around a g but he definitely worked with me to get the price down to a resonable point.

I still prefer my local nissan Dealer (Fergus Nissan). The parts guys went the extra mile and hunted down and ordered a part that isn't shown in their catalogs for me even though it was less than $10. I'm quite happy with them. The parts I compared price on w/ebay was less expensive from them once you figure in shipping.

Just my opinion

I agree with that, the guy at evanston was like open it up, I even peeled out from a stoplight . and then he said it would go from 0-60 in 6 seconds... I was lik eummm... yeah maybe with a s/c! Ultimately decided to buy there though because of a pretty good deal on the car I bought.. Fergus is a nice dealership though, offered us beverages when we got there and everything, salesman wa snice but the sales manager does act liek he is better than you... hes like on a little platform and everything, didnt have a good feeling about that. Parents just bought their 03 GLE from there though. SO far at evanston though, the car didnt have a jack and the back of the drivers seat was coming off so they just gave me a jack and fixed the back of the seat no questions asked and they even did the brake judder TSB too...

Andersen Nissan, Rockford. Go someplace else if you have to go to a dealer for service. You'll have to check and re-check everything they do or don't do. Just a word to the wise

From thise day on, they would still give free oil changes just pay for oil filter. My 2003 Maxima was purchased at Evanston Nissan. They are okay. They didn't fix the wind noise and a window problem so theyre just okay. B ut North Shore Nissan in Highland Park was GOOD!

I just had to visit Glendale Nissan today as well. There were 2 problems, one concerning the engine. The other problem was small. Some of the LED's on the stereo were not lit as result in night you could not see next or previous track while playing CD's. It wasn't too big of a deal but due to the fact the car was in warranty I showed it to the service dept. To my surprise after about 90 mins wait I was told the whole radio needs replacement which as I see is a full Bose Stereo. Sweet deal. Replace the stereo to make the LED's work???? I have no objections as long as I don't have to pay for it.
For the other problem they just gave me a pass. It's cold and I noticed in the night after a few hours of car being parked outside when you initially start the engine revs. up really high, over 2500 rpm to the extent for even driving at 25 mph you could hear the noise inside with windows closed. However the service manager said this was normal but in the report he wrote "Could not replicate problem". Ofcourse so because I drove the car to service department and so the engine wasn't cold.

FYI, Fergus Nissan is currently selling a 1999 SE that is a Nissan-acknowledged LEMON (I ran a CARFAX report), and they're asking $14,000... I'd stay away from them based solely on that.

Gerald Nissan in North Aurora

I took my '03 in today for Bose radio replacement, tire rotation, and oil change. No problems what so ever. They fixed brake rotor runout and replaced engine sensors under warranty as well. This visit was A+ in my book. Terry was my service writer.

It's located very close to I-88 and Orchard Road in North Aurora.

NorthWest Indiana Dealer Review

Southlake Nissan (Merrillville, IN - I-65/US30 East of Southlake Mall) A++++ This place it right on. All service advisors are great. Talk to Mike Kohler if you call - he is very good. Very honest, I've been going to them for 4 years now. Very customer oriented, techs are good. Everything resolved on first try. Free car wash with every visit, even if they don't do anything. If you buy a car from them - they give you a free loaner for the whole day, even if you just bring it in for an oil-change. Prices are very decent, take all Nissan coupons. If they suggest additional services - they deffinetly let you know whether it is really needed or just desired. Recalls done very fast. Very busy place, so you gotta make an appointment. Parts department is good too, if you ask for discount - you will get it. If you are a frequent customer -they appreciate you. They are breaking ground on a new building this summer. Sales staff is mostly knowledible, and will not try to screw you if they know that you know what you are talking about. Southlake has Dodge and Kia dealerships next door. Dodge portion SUCKS big time. Kia- have no idea.
They also have a collision center - which is very good, but can be on the higher end of price specrtum.

Nielsen Nissan (Chesteron, IN - IN49/I94). This place just changed hands, but their prices are high and they seem a little shady. Service department is small, sales not very knowledgeble. But it was just taken over by Nielsen group, so maybe it will get better.

Napleton Nissan (used to be Towne&Countree in Sherillville, IN US30/US41). Prices are way high compared to other places, but very clean and professional. They also have a Jaguar/Volvo place next door. Service manager are knowledgible, but TSBs are hard to get there even under warranty. If you are looking to buy a Nissan, talk to LEE, he is a manager - just came over there from Southlake Nissan.

That's it

I have found Fergus to be a great place to go for service. My cousin is a tech there and is very thorough. Nobody else works on my car, but I always hang out in the shop and have met the mechanics there. They are a great bunch who get along with each other and help each other out. The service writers are nice too. Fergus prides itself on no returns, meaning repairs are done right the first time. Star Nissan is all sorts of horror stories, as well as Woodfield Nissan in Schaumburg.

My cousins name is Dan Vuckovic if anyone wants to go to Fergus and have him work on the car, just tell the service writers you want to schedule with him. He's been there 7 1/2 years and is only 26, but very good at getting the job done right.

Yes, thaty's true. So if you have a bad MAF, you don't need to change your FC intake to stock. The Liberty VW dealer is known as the only mod friendly dealer in Illinois as well.

I bought a preowned 2002 SE from a dealer in Glendale, Wisconsin. Took it to Libertyville Nissan auto mall and had very good experinces from a recall to warranty stuff. I will continue to use them.

[QUOTE=PrinzII]Another dealership I am wondering about is Napleton Nissan in Highland, IN.

--> I live in NW INdiana. Napleton was just recently bought by....Napleton . Before it was Towne & Countree Nissan/Volvo/Jaguar.

Napleton still sells Jags and Volvos there. I know Nissan Sales manager (he came over from Southlake) and he will give you a fair deal. Their service department, on the other hand is trying to push Volvo/Jag prices on you, so it's pretty expensive.
