I NO LONGER recommend Glendale Nissan if your car is modified

they have new service consultants that arent as cool as the other ones who didnt care if your car was modified.

last time i went there they had new lady & she was a b!tch & told me that rear hub bearing will not be covered b/c car is modified....i told her to look my service history up & she will see that 2 months prior i had both my front hub bearings covered under the warranty. she said is should of not been covered b/c car is modified. i gave her some words & told her fine i'll go somewhere else that wants to get paid for doing warranty work on my car

i then took it to woodfield Nissan & right away talked to service consultant Russ Aumann & told him straight up my car is modified & rear hub bearing is busted if they will cover it or not b/c my car is modified.....he said they dont care that car is modified & will cover it..... so, so far I NOW RECOMMEND WOODFILED NISSAN @ 700 w higgins rd Hoffman Estates, IL 60195 847-310-1900

Fergus Nissan Won me over 2nd time around
1- Do your homework b4 buying a car!!!!!!!!!
2-Take your time and don't allow to be bullied

#1 choice-That in Mind I give Fergus a B+/A-
#2 choice-If you go to Arlington ask for Dan Kneip...he was $100 over on invoice, but no free lifetime oil changes like Fergus, fergus got the deal....

I bought my '04 max end of june at Fergus, and had some problems and found some TSB's pertaining to my problems after 2 weeks. Took the car in and got an Altima for a loaner w less than a 1/4 tank of gas. Wasn't too happy about that. They ordered the necessary parts for the TSB's, but "could not reproduce" some of my other Problems. I had the car for another week and the passenger front strut went bad. Called in to the Service dept. and was scheduled for the next day. Service manager (Eric) seemed annoyed, it was 4:30, and the tech who worked on my car last time split for the day, but Eric (Service Manager) set me up with another tech who worked alongside my original tech. I was able to take a tech out on a ride to confirm all my problems. That was pleasant...Tech confirmed all my problems w Eric in front of my face and checked off on the print out of problems. Was pleased about that!

Joe Zich (good salesman) hooked me up this time after last loaner being empty. I got a brand new fully loaded pathfinder with 96 miles on it. That made my day. We quickly looked over the car to make sure that it comes back the same way it came in. Noticed a few scratches, but didn't examine every inch, comes back to bite me.

So I come in the next day and the car is all fixed up. Tech couldn't recreate my seat squeak when you apply pressure to the edge, even though i showed the other tech. No biggie there......

So i walk out of the service dept w my keys and Joe is looking over the Pathfinder and says I got "two door dings." Not possible, I took the car straight home after the dealership and while at work I took two spots plus the drivers side spot was an emergency exit, which is never used, out of my building so there was no way to get a ding. No marks, as far as scratches, so I said I didn't do it and Joe tried to quilt trip me....

Overall repairs were done right, except for stuff the could not reporduce. Everything was taken care of.

Mid City, Star, Arlington, and Gerald (Naperville)
Mid-City (Chicago) and Star (Niles):

Same company that likes to run trick ads in the Trib et al. I bought an Altima from Star a few years ago and they are dirty dirty dirty... the salespeople and finance (Gloria) will pull every dirty trick in the industry. I won't go into great detail but suffice it to say that they screwed me and try to screw me more after the sale... unreal. I've taken it in for service at both Star and Mid-City. The service is horrible at both. These guys will waste your time and are rude in the process..... and like a fool I still have the Mid-City plate frame on the car--in California no less!

Arlington:

I used to take the car to Arlington when I worked on Dundee... I did not feel the scum factor there like at Star and Mid-City but the last straw was when I took the car in for a 30K service and specified clearly that I did not want an oil change. The service mgr even marked it very clearly on the paperwork but they still did the change. I only use Mobil 1 and of course they used some cheap conventional crap oil/filter so I pitched a huge fit and they at least brought it back in and replaced the oil and filter.

Gerald (Naperville):

They pissed me off when a service checkup appointment I made was not kept. I could tell since I was not a VIP that they would not fix their mistake by fitting my car in anyway. They wanted to reschedule and I told them to forget about it.

Gave Glendale Heights Nissan a try today - for the famous 1-2 and 2-3 slip on shift. Mine only happened ever so slightly at high RPM. Took it in, the service mgr said his techs could not duplicate the slip, but he would replace the solenoids anyway. All under warranty as well. He said if it still slips, bring it in and they will replace the TCM as well - but he couldn't do it today as the part is not stocked.

Couldn't be happier, as I hear all the horror stories of people who have to fight the dealers to get them to do warranty work. The service manager there is named Andy, and is a pleasure to deal with.

He even informed me that my rear pads were low, and he could replace them for $250 or so including new rotors... I respectfully declined and will get some pads myself, and remove a zero from that previous figure. Didn't even push it on me. Just informed me to get it done, and that he didn't care where I did it.

Glendale Heights Nissan, with Andy as the service manager. Highly recommended.

I have an Update on Fergus. My car has been in that place 8 times for the same repair. I finally have a DTS coming out to fix the problem.

Wayne the service manager has screwed me over twice on appointments. He claims he was waiting on me to call back. But when someone calls to schedule an appoitment and says see you then I take that as a confimation. Any way...He was cool at first willing to fix the problem the first time. After that he wouldn't admit/confirm repeat problems unless it was really obvious. What ever happened to the customer is always right?

So, based off that I went to North Shore Nissan for work. They confirmed all the problems Fergus Denied. WOW what a surprise. Overall Fergus was cool, but don't go there for repeat problems.

i took my sentra to so. chicago a long time ago (2000) for brakes. they charged me $400 FOR REAR BRAKES! about two months later, there was a clicking noise comin from the back. took the car to them. they said they didnt hear anything. when they pulled the car around, the noise was audible from outside! i pointed it out to them & they said bring it back the next day. i couldnt because i was leaving for school the next day. the next time i came home, of course, the mileage part of the warranty had expired.

from then on, i started taking my car to certified auto on 83rd & pulaski. the brothers were nissan techs, carry genuine nissan parts, work fast, and have great prices.

someone posted about paying $7 for an oil filter...thomas nissan in River oaks has them 3 for $15.

A lot of old(er) posts here.

I think that the dealers can change as the staff changes... Woodfield Nissan is one. The post back in 2002 may be legit, however, I have had nothing but GREAT service from WOODFIELD NISSAN ever since February 2003. My wife and I own a 2k GLE and 2k3 TE that are both exclusively serviced at Woodfield Nissan. We are members of the Preferred Card where you get 3 years of oil changes (12 total) for only $80 - if you do the math, that is an incredible savings. You also get 10% discount on parts and 10% discount on labor. They don't haggle you about mods - DEPENDING on the mod, of course. If you have a CAI, POP charger, etc you are ok. If you turbocharge, supercharge, etc you will void the warranty (I think this would be the case at most dealers). They will also do the S-type NISMO installations that are covered under FULL warranty, and they will work with you on other "upgrades" or "mods" (I had them inspect my SS brake lines and say "yes, they are ok" - then they installed them, and they are COVERED under warranty and do not affect other things like calipers, etc).

There has been some turnover there over the past two years, however, Pauly still works there and he is not only incredibly helpful and professional, but he is also an avid Maxima owner as well. (He will help you with a timing advance, just ask). He works afternoons, so call in the afternoon to set something up.

I know all dealers have the need for revenue... trust me, I've been in Woodfield Nissan's waiting area in the morning waiting on my car when I've seen them come in and "work" someone over... "you need (this) for (this much $$), etc"... stuff like tightening belts and the all-known microfilters... stuff we, on the Org, can do ourselves. But overall Woodfield Nissan gets top quality rating from me. For now.

Star Nissan... was a joke.

I've been around a couple of dealers and they just plain out stink.

1. i went to take my maxima for a oil changed. The guys was on the phone so i waited he didn't address me and ask me to hold or anything. While he was actually on hold. Him an a porter were talking in my front of me like 2 feet and cussing and everything. Went to my car and got my mileage. just told me to sign the RO and thats it. didn't tell me how long. or what to do. My first time being at the dealership. Everyone was really disorganized there.

2. The main reason why we went there was for my gf to test drive a xtrerra. So we go out to the used car lot. And look around. saw 2 xtrerras hoped in and everything. A salesman came out with 2 customers looking at maxima's, saw us and didn't say anything. Didn't ask if we need help. I was just comparing the car. He went in and i thought it was to tell a salesmen to help but it wasn't. So i we walked in. Walked around looked at some cars. Sat in them and everything. Salesman walked pass me and they weren't helping anyone. Just chatting amung themselves. Got no help period. So i said ok lets see if we can get someone. I purposely set of an alarm in the showroom floor. 2 salesmen ran right to me and turned it off and walked away w/o offering to help. So i go for the receptionist for help. And instant a salesmen over heard and came. He talked about the xtrerra and what not. When i go out side waiting for him to get the keys. i noticed my car being driven around 4 times the around the whole shop by a porter. didn't understand why, didn't ask. Test drove the car well my girlfriend did and everything came out nicely. We weren't looking to buy yet. i just wanted her to get a feel of a trunk if thats what she wanted. So then we let him know whats going on and everything was ok.

3. Going back into the dealership to check on my car. I went to the guy that was aviable. He asked for my name and i mentioned to him that the orginal guy didn't ask for my name, just told me to sign. So he trys and trys. Then he justs shoves me to the orginal guy that wrote me up. The orginal guy looked at me like i was crazy. But he found my RO and everything. It was under the dealers name that i got it from still. Not sure why, i ask him to change that for me and he told me to go to the cashier she will take care of it. I went to the cashier. Told her the story she says she cant and it was the service's job. So w/e i paid for my oil changed. She told me "service will pull out my car" but never told me where. I walk out with my recepit to service area. Told the service where do i pick up my car and he says just stand there ( in a corner). So i waited 10 mins. I got pissed and said screw it lets find my car, my gf told me to be cool about it so we go out to look at the xtrerra one last time. Then i saw my car parked there in the used car sale row all wet. So i walk in and ask for the keys. Seems the porter forgot to turn in the keys. I go out to my car pretty pissed because prior to me taking it to the dealer the car was detailed and was look prefect. They ran it to the machine wash and didn't dry it, just parked it outside. So yea Star Nissan on Touhy= CRAP!!!!!

STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

why would you wash a car but not dry it. it doesn't make any sense. Well aleast to me anyways. They are lacking a lot of stuff seriously. I mean nothing went right. Given the fact this is my first time at the Nissan dealer. I've been to many other dealers and Star is like off the wall.

I have just gotten my maxima and would like to know if any of your dealers have changed staff, etc etc. mostly just wondering about the most mod friendly dealers avaible.

I have bought my car at gerald nissan, and they are wonderfull to deal with
before that I went to Star nissan ( BILL KAY ) and after driving their ****ty maxima, with worn out leather and felt so much worse than the one at gerald, they even had a higher price tag. I told them a price or no deal and the manager got pissed... it was some funny ****

If what you say about Evanston Nissan, now called the Autobahn Nissan, I am in trouble. Any new thoughts on dealers close to Evanston?
