Well as for washing you're going to need a chenille wash pad or mit. That's for shampooing it with a good car wash such as Meguiars Gold Class. After washing you're going to have to dry your car. A lot of people use a lot of different things. The two most popular are the Absorber and a waffel weave towel. You can find the Absorber at a local Strauss, Autozone, or Walmart. The waffel weave can be found online at www.pakshak.com.
PakShak also sells some great microfiber towels, that's where I pruchased mine from. You will need these MF towels for buffing off wax. As for applying the wax, you can use a terry applicator, foam applicator, or what I recommend, a microfiber applicator. Come say that it absorbs too much of a product and perfer the foam applicator, but I haven't yet experienced this.
As for the number of MF towels you need depends on what you're going to use them for. You'll need at least two to buff off the wax, and maybe more if you want to wipe down the interior of the car.
Enjoy detailing!

Thanks for the reply! I understand now.
So do you use waffle weave towels or the absorber? I use the absorber w/ the california water blade... i am yet to be satisfied. I was thinking of getting the wash kit they sell at autopia.org... comes w/ their own water blade, mitt, and waffle weave for like $22 or something. What do you think? I will also get 3 microfiber towels. I really wanted to try the waffle weave because im not satisfied w/ the absorber... still streaks.

Get about 15-20 towels, I use about 5-6 for a regular wash and dry. I don't reuse them so with 15-20, you'd only have to throw them in the wash about once a month.

I have around 60 smaller microfibers and 10 large waffle weaves for drying because I run a little detailing business. If i had to buy more i'd only get them from Pakshak. Ask for the autopia.org member discount and the microfibers are 2.25 each and the large waffle weaves are 12 each. PS: If you're around northern NJ and want your max to sparkle, let me know
