Any products on the market that help with brake dust??

Hello,

I purchased a 2004 Maxima SE a couple weeks ago and I love it! The only down size is the amount of brake dust I’m always having to clean off my rims. Are there any products on the market that you can apply to the rim and the brake dust won’t stick?

I waxwd my rims with Meguiars Gold, you can then just rinse off the brake dust. Reduce amount of dust on wheels as well.

An effective OTC cleaner is Eagle One A2Z. But, as one person already suggested, you should consider a glaze for the wheels to prevent the dust from sticking to them and make cleaning easier. (e.g. Meguiar's #20 or Klasse Sealant Glaze).

I've been trying RainX Wheel Protectant, and like it so far. I used to wax my rims, but this does seem more effective, and much easier (just spray it on, let dry). Seems to keep my rims clean longer, and when I do clean them, it is a simple wipe without any special cleaner. This is on a '97 SE's stock rims, so I don't know how it does on others. It's in a black bottle w/yellow writing available at AutoZone.

If you do get stubborn brake dust on the wheel, especially on the backside of the wheel, try Simple Green. I have a 95 SE w/ 135,000 miles, and the wheels were brown on the back from all the crap that has built up on them. They are now a shiny silver again thanks to Simple Green.
