Key scratchs on driver side, what to do?

My car got keyed not to long ago, and the scratches are not to deep. Anybody got any suggestion on how I can cover them up for now.

The first thing you need to do is see how deep the scratch is. The way to do that is by running your fingernail across the scratch. if your nail gets caught in the scratch, the scratch is too deep to be taken out by polish and you will need to have it painted.

But if the scratch is not too deep, you can use items such as rubbing compound and Scratch-X to get the scratch out. Then you will need to follow up with a swirl makr remover to get rid of the haze and then follow up with a polish and then a wax.

I recently buffed a car that had a more than a few scratches and the best thing for me is 3M Rubbing Compound, 3M Machine Glaze, and finish the car of with some Presta Wax. The guys jaw dropped to the floor. The car was spottless.

The f*cked up part is that right by the gas tank, I think that's were he started it's pretty deep, almost f*cked up you can say. Although when it gets to the doors it's gets better.

max7 - 3M Rubbing Compound, 3M Machine Glaze you had any problem with this, how is Scratch-X if you ever used it? Thanx for that info guys!

I never used scratch-x but I've never had any problems with 3M rubbing compound and machine glaze. Try not to do one spot too long and move around. The idea is not to heat up the paint too much because you can burn it off, but 3M products are realy good so I wouldn't worry!

A lot of peeps swear by Scratch-X. But as max7 said, a compound might work as well, but some compounds are for machine applications only. Also, use a light or medium rubbing compound to get the scratches out and then follow up with a Swirl Mark Remover to get rid of the haze and then finish up by polishing.

You might want to file a police report for vandalism.

I really didn't catch him by his hand, but I have a pretty good idea who did it. Any other thoughts.
