What gets wax off trim?
Mothers Back To Black. Spend some quality time using a toothbrush to scrub it off.
Personally I use green painters tape on areas like that when I'm waxing. I've made the same mistake before and found that a little prep time is worth it.

Back to Black may or may not remove it sometimes I've heard and just cover it up. Also it might run off once it gets wet. Other than peanut butter, other things you can try are a white vinyl eraser, and a bug and tar remover.
What wax was this anyway that stained?
One tip I have heard to prevent trim staining is to coat the trim with a rubber/vinyl protectant before you wax. I haven't tried this myself (most of my waxes don't stain anyway), but it's supposed to work.

Meguiar's #9 swirl remover isn't a wax... no wonder you got staining. #9 is a polish, and when using such products you should either take the time to mask off the trim (not as bad as it sounds) or try the protectant trick. Older, rough trim that is worn is even worse for staining.I hope after #9 swirl remover you followed up with a pure glaze (like #7) and then used an actual wax... What have you done so far?
I have used peanut butter on plexiglass to take off tape residue without scratching the plexi. Its a pretty good cleaner, and cheap too. Couldn't hurt to use it too.
Basically any sort of cleaner + toothbrush will work to get the wax off your trim pieces.
