Kasse Sealing Glaze....any comments?

I just received mine in the mail and tried a few coats on the hood. Didn't notice a major difference. Is this stuff supposed to really make your finish shine or just protect it? I'm thinking I should probably get the Klasse "all in one" and use that first.

Any comments?

Yes you should of used the "All in One" first. Then top it off with the sealer glaze. Read the directions.

The shine you want wont come from a sealant, its all in the prep work. THEN if you want that wet look you want a carnuaba, sealants are known for their durability, not looks(although many look very good)

Sqard and maximadave hit it on the head. Klasse is a two step system. The first step is the All In One which not only removes minor imperfections but also acts as a base for the sealant to crosslink.

But you have to consider that prep work is the key to having a shiny finish. if you look at the Detailing showoff thread, you will see a picture of my '94 GXE after doing a clay, 3M Swirl Mark Remover, Klasse All In One, and Klasse Sealant Glaze.

Don't expect any miracles from using Klasse SG. It's great and I like it a lot, but it will only fill/hide the most minor and fine imperfections (ie, super fine swirls), even after multiple coats.

They use the word "glaze" in its name, but try not to directly compare it to a true glaze, which it is not.

As others have said, prep work prior to applying Klasse is everything. Just think of Klasse as a really good "wax". This is true of many good products, such as Zaino. All too often people expect too much from products primarily meant only to offer protection. The real magic is in polishing the paint to perfection.

I certainly agree that SG doesn't fix or hide anything, though I WOULD say that it changes the look of the car if you do good prep work. It's different than carnuba...the metallic stuff in the paint seems to stand out more and you get a shine that's.....I can't really describe it............very.........I dunno. I think someone on Autopia comapred it to a polished rock...which sounds fair enough to me. They really do mis-name it by calling it a glaze...there are NO hiding properties to it as far as I can tell.

The AIO is absoluetly critical. It removes oxidation and contaminates from the paint and deepens the color. It's a non abrasive cleaner like Zymol HD Cleanse if anyone has used that. The Klasse system did as well as any of the opther good products I've used in terms of getting my Dark Green car to look very very dark.

The second coat is......shudder.....so sweet when you put it on. I'm up to 3 coats on my car now...and I'm hoping to do 2 more this weekend since the weather will be good. Overall I must say that I'm a big fan of this stuff...but there is NO substitute for good prep work.

to both Endus and Bman. All of us who posted in this thread firmly believe that surface preparation is the key to a great finish. From what we are all reading, you are expecting Klasse SG to be an all in one miracle product. As everyone (including myself) has stated, it is only one component.

Thanks for the comments, you guys are tons of help. I ordered the AIO and some P/100 to follow. Would you'all consider the AIO a polish, technically? Or is there a more agressive step to take before using the AIO? On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say my paint is probably a 7. Lots of minor scratches and swirls though.

Thanks again for the comments!

AIO is, for all practical purposes, completely non-abrasive. I would use Meguiars DACP or swirl remover or the 3m Perfect-IT polishes people always mention if your paint needs some polishing.

Ditto. The plan for polishing (search for some older posts here) includes trying the lighter polish first (swirl remover usually) because you're probably unsure about just how bad the damage really is. Try doing it once or twice thoroughly on a decent sized patch and then stop and evaluate your work. If the lighter polish just isn't doing it, step up to your next strongest polish (DACP, Fine Cut, others) and do the same thing. That should get out the swirls, but scratches can be trickier...

What I would recommend is to wash, clay, scratch removal, polish, glaze, wax. The reason I recommend doing the scratch removal second is that a polish like DACP will get diminish or alleviate the hazing from products like Scratch-X.
