How Would You Feel About.......

I was wondering how you guys would feel about having videos showing different detailing procedures (e.g. claying, waxing). What do you guys think of the idea?

Good idea, Prinz.

I think a visual aid would be helpful to a lot of peeps. Especially with detailing stuff, it's good to actually see it being done, rather than just reading about it.

I agree it would be a very nice thing to have. I know the first time i detailed my car i was very nervous. A video guide would have been quite nice.

I have been thinking about doing this too. Being able to see how fast people are moving their Porter Cables may have saved me a lot of time learning...experience has taught me to move slooooooooooooooow. A lot of the paint stuff would be easier to elarn if people could see the technique.

I'd personally like to see a video on claying, just to give you an idea. Sounds like a tedious process.

I like the idea. I am pretty well informed and experienced in detailing but I would still watch all of the videos to see how others do the different procedures.

While I think videos are helpful they, much like writing detailing articles, carry the danger of becoming gospel and you'll have to decide if you want to do some things the "popular" method, or just your own way whatever that may be.

Good topics would include claying, PCing (even though DB's video is pretty good for that already), and quicker clips of things like QDing, CCDing, maybe a quick washing step overview...

I don't know if you remember but theveed did a quickie DIY claying video. Let me know if you want to see it, I think I've got it lying around someplace...

Sorry I haven't talked this up too much. I have been thinking about how to do this so that it would be easy for everyone to manage.

I definitely want to do some videos that are Maxima Specific to illustrate the particulars about detailing Maximas in a nutshell.

In addition, I still want to get videos together on the following subjects:

Claying
Washing
Waxing
Swirl Removal
New Car Prep

In short, I want to stay with more general topics.

GO TO WWW.MEGUIARS.COM somewhere on that site they have a bunch of vids dealing with detailing, my bro went there and it was very helpful to him when starting his own detailing business.

Superblack: I am trying to plan a tutorials to be used here. Those videos are considered copyrighted material and we would need the permission of Meguiar's in order to use them.

Cool. I'll set a time where we all can meet up and hammer out the specifics for this. We'll use the chat room I created for the detailing chat.

Another thing I just thought of is writing a "Detailing 101" thread to show the processes we use to get the Maxes shiny.

What do you think?

Thanks. I have space and bandwidth, just as long as it doesn't get downloaded too insanely much. I'll probably host it myself and if it's too much (or if you just feel like it) you can mirror it somewhere else.

Now I just have to get off my butt and get this stuff edited.
