My daughter did the same in my wife's car (leather) a few years back as well....! The good thing, is that you DID have leather.
....hurling on cloth is BAD!

You did the most important thing - which is to clean it immediately.
Stomach acids are not exactly good for leather.
ALWAYS use a MILD cleaner on leather - or SIMPLY just clean water.
Heavy detergents or cleaners will DRY-OUT leather's natural oils, and lead to pre-mature cracking. (simple green = BAD idea!)

Aside from cleaning the area THOROUGHLY, I'm a big believer in LEXOL leather products. LEXOL can be purchased at almost ANY automotive store, WAL-MART, PEP-BOYS, etc.

I would suggest using the ORANGE-bottled CLEANER VERY LIBERALLY on the leather to remove any residual debris and acid.

~I use a perforated, nylon-covered sponge that is primarily sold as a BUG-REMOVER to scrub the seats WITH the cleaner. (walmart~$2.99)
This works well, as it will not scratch the leather, while being mildly abrasive.
~Use a WARM bucket of water, and dampen your sponge-scrubber.
~Apply the cleaner to the sponge, and work into the leather.
~Do not be affraid to work this mixture into a lather over the entire seating area, as it will serve to break-up and loosen any ground-in matter that is still on the leather.
~Make SURE to get in-between the cracks and seams --SOAKING the seats should aide in this operation. Don't be affraid to get the seat WET. It will not damage the leather. LEXOL is Ph-balanced.
~Rinse your sponge in the clean water frequently, just as with any other cleaning medium.
~Repeat as needed, let dry into a haze, and then rinse residue with clean water and rag. Allow to dry. (seats should dry by the time you work from the front to back seats, or vice-versa)

Second Step--
~LIBERALLY apply the BROWN-bottled CONDITIONER with a non-colored cloth or rag. (some colored towels WILL bleed into the leather)
~Let-Dry into a hazy film -- Repeat.
Let dry, and then buff with a clean dry towel. DO NOT RINSE THIS STEP.
Voila.

I regularly apply the Conditioner to keep my leather soft and supple.
The Cleaner is reserved for accidents and once a year cleansing.

Not sure about removing the smell, especially if it's in the carpet -- but the cleaner should get rid of any offending odor residing in the leather seat.

Lexol has a VERY mild scent, that doens't really smell like anything you'd classify as "deoderizer". Hard to explain - but you'll understand. I've come to enjoy the smell -- but, that's just me.
I have black leather as well, by the way.

good luck!
