bastard left scratch on my max
bastard left scratch on my max
i removed my se badge on my 03 where the trunk is. afterwards there was sticky crap on the paint. i showed it to this guy (seemed like he knew what he was doing). he puts compound on top of it and starts rubbing it.
i looked at it and there was faded swirl marks on it. i asked him if its going to be ok, and tells me that it should come off after few car washes. but f#@k no! that **** is now permanent!
now i got to find a way to cover it up some how. any suggestions would be appreciated..

Try this:
a) Apply Meguiar's Scratch-X to the affected area and rub it until the scratches are less visible.
b) Follow that with a swirl mark remover like 3M's or Meguiar's #9
c) Polish it with a polish like Klasse All In One
d) Top with wax or glaze of your choice.

Ouch. For future reference - Adhesives like this can be easily removed with wd-40 or 3M adhesive remover.
I'd say Prinz-II is right on the $. Only thing I'd add is to wash and clay before step A to make sure all contaminants are removed - otherwise rubbing in these products could just do more damage. The swirls should be virtually invisible after this process.

I even let it soak in the 3M AR and it still doesn't go away. I'll just wait until the weather gets hotter to remove it.

What about Goo Gone or Goo Gone 2?
I've used that to lift tar, gum etc. from floors.
What kind of adhesive is it? Is it resin/gum based or very hard?

I'll just wait until the weather warms up
I'll use a hair dryer to warm it up and scrape it off the next time I go to my cousin's house

I removed all the goop off mine (de-badged this past Saturday) using lots of elbow grease, mineral spirits, and a flat spatula covered by a rag. One slip, though, and you can scratch the paint. I've detail how-to on car domain (member id: rbneron). This won't help you remove any swirl marks, though.
