Hazy Headlights

I washed my car this weekend and tried to get rid of the haze/fogginess on them but it doesn't come off. Is there a product to make them nice and clear (I'd like the clarity of glass) or is this crud on the inside or am I just stuck with them like that because the 1st owner didn't take care of them?

Try a plastic cleanser product called Plexus. This might help your 97-99 plastic headlights out. You can buy it online from multiple sites if you do a search.

using very fine sandpaper cant remember exact grit
wet sand lightly then buff the headlights, you can use the plastic cleaner and polisher on the buffer, did it on my 89gxe and 91se workes wonders

Plexus is *great* stuff but it's non abrasive so I doubt it will do much for discolored headlights.

What you want is a product called Novus...I'd say #2 should be abrasive enough.

The reason for the haze is not just dirt. For the part that is dirt penetrating the cracks in the plastic, this plexus is great, but any mag wheel cleaner will do the job on the outside. The reason you cant get it looking new is that it, like any plastic, reacts with the sun, and one of the agents in the plastic, i believe chlorine, separates and becomes visable after extensive exposure to the sun. It is part of the plastic and cant be cleaned.(aka, it gets hazy and u either buy new housings or live with it)

I've used Blue Corral (I think?) Plastic Cleaner and it worked great for my yellowing hazy headlights. I found it at Autozone for $6.
