Wax

I am wanting to wax my car and I went to walmart the other day and I saw a wax thats made for the color tint of your car that is suppose to get the scratches out. It is a liquid not a paste. And would I be able to put a coat of another wax on top of it? Any help would be appreciated.

Part of the problems with those waxes is that they will wear off over time and whatever you filled up will return. Your best bet is to follow this process to get the best results:

a) Purchase the following:

- Polish to remove swirl marks (e.g. Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish)
- Clay bar to remove contamination from the paint

b) After washing, go over the car with the clay bar to remove any contamination in the paint.

c) Follow the claying step with the polishing step by working the polish thoroughly.

d) Top it with wax.

The Mothers Clay Bar kit is available at Advance Auto Parts for $15. That's what I use and I have nothing but good things to say about it.

If you're going to used the DACP by hand, prepare yourself for a world of pain. DACP should be applied with some sort of Orbital Buffer, like the Porter Cable 7442. Which is an excellent buffer. I my self am a Zaino fan, however, Meguiars has a new wax out called NXT which from what I hear is getting excellent results. As far as the clay bar goes, anyone you pick up at walmart or Pep boys will do. Just make sure you read the directions if you never used one before. Good luck and have fun!

Welcome Shawn.

Using any non-retail polish that is "professionally" oriented is going to be tough by hand because of how you have to work in the product very thoroughly. It's certainly doable, but not much fun and time consuming if you have to do an entire car. A Porter Cable 7424/7336 does save a lot of sweat if you're willing to buy and accessorize one.

Thank You for the Welcome

7424, you would think I would know that by now I've only owned it for about 1 year now.
