Removing Tint Glue

Tried the search with no results. My friend just took the tint off his window (incorrectly, obviously) and he only took the tint film itself off. the adhesive is still in one solid sheet on his window. what chemicals should i get to help him out? i've tried rubbing alcohol..that's gonna take lots of work. is there something like an industrial strength goof off? what's safe for the rear defroster window?
thanks

Althought I've never tried it, I hear nail polish remover is supposed to work OK. I heard that whatever you use, it's still going to require some elbow grease. Good luck

I removed my tints about 6 months ago. It is a pain in the a$$. I talked to some tint shops and they told me to use ammonia. I used that with one of those household sponges. the ones with the green side and yellow side. It takes a lot of time.goodluck

as for fron and side windows, a razor blade is the best bet....Try 3M adhesive/tar remover in conjunction.....Just be cautious....

I just used a gallon of water with one can of Coca Cola in it and a clean sponge. It worked great. The Cola is supposed to eat up any kind of oxidation and residue. Works great for cleaning corroded battery connectors and stuff like that too!

Just get some NEW razorblades, a bottle of Windex, and paper towel (to clean up the mess) and get to work. Spray the Windex onto the glue/film. Let it sit for awhile, to let the Windex penatrate the glue. Then carefully, use a razorblade to scrape the material off the glass. It's best if you have a razorblade holder, just simply easier to work with. Remember to change the blade once in awhile when it becomes dull.

I used this method to get my old tint off. Took about 2 hours, half a bottle of Windex, and 8 razorblades. It came off pretty well. Also try to do this on a warm day.

3m makes a really good adheasive remover. I use it when I have to remove clear bras off of cars. Check your local NAPA for it. They have a lot of good professional level materials that you wouldnt expect. It comes in a simple white can with red lettering.

Go to Home Depot, they have a product called gook or gook off(can`t remember I used it all and trashed the can). It is in a small can with a yellow label and it works.

Stoner's Invisible Glass Cleaner worked well when we removed the tint glue from my brothers Malibu. It did take a while and a good bit of elbow grease but it got the job done and the outcome was great. Only tip is that u dont need a lot of it, if you use too much it actually dont work that well.

I used acetone and razor blades to remove my tint adhesive and it worked pretty well, just required some elbow grease and a few rags
