Order of car finish detailing
Okay, my question is pretty simple.
my car is really dirty plus it has minor surface scratches. what products do i use and what order do i use them in to get my car looking great. I already bought the scratch remover, i just want to know in what order to apply the wax, wash, protectant, etc. I'm not really sure what brands to use, so im open on brand suggestions as well.
thanks

In short:
1) Wash thoroughly. Some people suggest dish detergent for this.
2) Clay. Technically optional, but highly recommended step to remove contamination off your paint that makes it feel rough and "gritty".
3) Polish and scratch removal. Arguably the most important step, and the hardest. Use multiple products as needed until you get it perfect looking. Check your work as you go, try things on small areas first, and start off mild if you're unsure.
4) Wax to protect your handiwork.
Budget lots of time for all this.
Mothers and Meguiar's both make excellent products in general, although Meguiar's and 3M sell some "professional" type products that you might need for step 3.
Find out WHY you got scratches in the first place and take steps to avoid them in the future. Causes typically include bad materials used to wash, dry, and buff the paint (cheap wash mitts/sponges/brushes, towels, etc), and bad washing methods.
