white lines after waxing?

why do i get white lines on my car after i wax? it looks like chalk or something. is it because i put too much wax or i didnt "buff " it in that good. im talkin about the corners and on side moldings and stuff. i washed the car and they didnt come off either. i had to manualy wipe them down. how can i prevent them from appearing when i wax my max next time?

Could you describe them a bit better? Are they actual raised lines of white residue, or are they just white-looking lines? Are they smeary or dry?

might be wax that didn't get buffed out during the buffing process. sometimes i'd would miss a spot when i'm buffing with my cotton towel, and it'll look like white streaks. next time when you buff, be more alert and go over all parts of the paint that wax was applied.

Wax will do that when it gets onto rubber parts. I use painters tape to mask off all the rubber trim so I don't have that issue. Scrubbing the affected rubber parts down with Mothers Back To Black and a soft toohbrush should get rid of the stuff.

I think he means along the edges of panels and stuff like that...

It's just wax residue...nothing to do but buff it better. You can tape the moldings and stuff, but for the cracks you just have to be careful and make sure you buff thouroughly.

for the spots you can't get to with the towel (between panel seams and stuff), I've used a SOFT toothbrush or Q-tip to get that stuff out before. just make sure whatever you use is soft enough not to scratch the finish and you're fine.

Q-tips can and will actually scratch the paint. Even soft bristle toothbrushes will as well. The only brush you can use is one of horsehair. Or you can use a microfiber towel.

As long as you change Q-tips after each pannel I can't see why they'd scratch.
