How to remove corrosion/oxidation off aluminum?
I have this spare engine that was left out in the rain by the previous owner and it has tons of white/grey powdery crap on about every visible exterior surface of the engine. Ive got the engine completely in pieces for my buildup. But since I got some time before some parts arrive, I wanted to clean all that crap off.
I tried engine degreaser but that didnt do squat. When I used a simple wirebrush, it got most of it off to almost the original alloy. But there is no way I can sit here and wirebrush all the parts cause there is no way I can get into every area with the brush.
Is there any type of solvent that will eat away this crap? And where would I get it?
Ive got access to bead blasting it, but dont want to risk damaging the good surfaces from the overspray of the beed blasting, such as the head surface.

I don't know of any solvent stuff, but I've used Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish in my engine bay. It would be hard to get into small places, though. That white ozidation stuff is really tough to remove...some of it never comes off.
