Zymol Wax

Im not sure if people have posted about this wax before, but I just waxed my car today with Zymol Cleaner Wax, and good lord...this stuff is amazing. I did it all by hand, no orbital buffer, even though i have one. Im looking at it right now, and there is a street light on it, and it just gleems. I've got a deep evergreen, and it looks black. This is wayyyy better than meguiars gold class, IMO of course. People already cant tell if my car is black or not. So this will really have them guessing.

Glad you like the results, eckohb. Zymol also makes a bunch of high end waxes that are supposed to be very good. I've not tried any of them, but saw a brochure that described them all. Available on line, or through a very limited number of high end retail outlets.

Yes, there is difference between the "real" high-dollar Zymol, and the retail "Zurtle" Zymol sold at local stores.

I'm pretty sure the only cleaner wax they sell is the $15 retail one in the tapered clear bottle.... It's totally apples and oranges compared to their expensive boutique waxes which I personally wouldn't buy because you can find better waxes for less money. A lot of people criticize Zymol because of their heavy reliance on marketing and "snob factor", while producing waxes that aren't as amazing as they make them sound.

Try the retail blue Zymol auto wash though. THAT product I like.

Yea, sorry to say that the Zymol cleaner wax is kinda mediocre. Made by Turtle wax. Their boutique waxes look (and smell) amazing, but they don't last. For a garage queen they're good waxes, but for anything daily driven they're just garbage...it hurts me to say it but it's true.

Klasse looks pretty crazy on Deep Evergreen. I also like Ardex a lot...

I like the fact that it's so easy to buff off. You don't have to wait until it dries to start wiping it off. Hardly any elbow grease at all and gives a nice shine.

I have no idea about the Ardex, but Klasse is mainly through online order or maybe some BMW dealerships. It's more expensive than your Zymol wax though, and significantly "more effort" to use. On the other hand, it lasts a long time, but if you wax once every several weeks anyway (probably not a bad idea in the absence of thorough yearly detailing "overhauls" anyway) and otherwise like the Zymol then I think you should maybe stick with it, as a "one step" product.

Klasse is nice, but it's more demanding to use. If you really want better results on your car you might want to look into some polishing techniques and products to make the paint closer to perfect. Wax/sealant is only the last step and a lot depends on the appearance of the underlying paint.

^^^

If you're going to get into other polishes, you might as well use a better wax product...

I don't think Klasse is more difficult to apply than Zymol cleaner wax. Especially considering the mess that that stuff makes of your trim, and the fact that a couple coats of Klasse will alst you 6 months or more, I would have to say Klasse is easier to apply. A product like Zymol Carbon...now that's a PITA to apply...

Order Klasse from www.properautocare.com
Ardex....tough to find. GREAT stuff but very difficult to find. Detail shops or auto-body supply shops are really the only palces.

If you want an easier to find wax use Meg's Tech wax or Carnuba wax...available at most autozones.

i was going to consider the meguiars three step waxing, but another max owner in town (hard to find any of these) said zymol was good to his car too. I just figured id give it a try for the 7.99 it was at autozone. i like to have my car clean of course, but im not a detailing nut, so ill try out the three step by meguiars, but thats about it. Not that being a detailing nut is bad, because if any of you are bored, you can come do my car if you'd like ;-D
