Opinions on wax application

Lately ive been wondering, how long it takes for the wax to dry. Sometimes I can never get that shine i want, so I took a pic for you guys

Does that look like the wax is doing its job?? I just think i should be able to get more of a soft shine to the car. Do I need another layer or two???

Meguiars Gold Class.

Its only one layer, and about a week old. It just seems like it could have a more "wet" look to the paint.

You'll get that wet look from carnuba wax. I like S100, but good prep work is essential. (clay bar, polish, then the wax). You don't let good carnuba wax dry on the surface. You remove it before it dries.

Ok ok, first off, thank you Bluesbrekr for suggesting a Carnuba wax. I got some Mothers Carnuba wax (paste), and wow, it really does the trick. I never really had luck with Gold Class, but this stuff is really easy to apply and buff out. Drys really fast too, also smells nice.

Heres some pics:

some more

btw, the back end already had a light layer of gold class, no polish whatsoever. The hood though was polished before i applied the paste wax.

Well, I know some products do actually get better the longer you let them sit, but I'm not sure which. Which products/brands recommend letting the product sit for 1 hour+?

The key to a deep wet shine is prep work (polish, clay if need be) and layering a good wax. Not really a big fan of mothers at all. The gold class you were using IS carnuba wax.
