Drying Max

Need your help. What's the best rag to use in drying the car? Never have had much luck with chamois.....bought a couple of MicroFibers up at Wal-Mart, but seems to scratch finish(car is black).

What about 100% cotton towels??

Anybody have any thoughts?

I think the most popular options are:

1. Waffleweave microfiber towel from Pakshak or autogeek

2. the Absorber

3. California water blade.

I use the California Water Blade to get most of the water off, then go over left-over wet spots with a 100% cotton towel.

i heard some negative things about using the waterblade..
like incase you potentially missed a spot or some pebble during the wash and it stayed on your car, using a waterblade would drag it across the paint and scratch it

i was advised by a professional detailer to go with some microfiber towels from some place in Hawaii.. i'll find the link later..

One thing you can do to help is to rinse without a spray nozzle on the end of the hose. Just use a very slow stream of water (open end hose) and stay close to the body of the car and you'll have a lot less water on the car to dry off. It just "sheets" right off. Give it a try !

one word: Absorber

The best car drying product IMO. I can dry my Max in about 10 mins and when it gets dirty, you can throw it in the washing machine. I think you can get em' for about $8 at target or walmart.

I use both the California Water Blade and a Chamois with good results. I tend to clean the water blade thoroughly before I use it.

The absorber......

The absorber has to be the best product for drying cars hands down. I have tried evrything you could think of. You dry the car with the absorber it leaves no streaks you can also dry the windows with it. And if it gets dirty and it will. Pop it in the washing machine or dishwasher or even hand wash it and its like new. I have three of them. Two years and counting and I havent opened the other two.

I would recommend to you either the blade(I use one made by Turtle Wax....a little cheaper and without the funny lip on the Cali one.), or a plastic squeegy with obviously, rubber on the end. My brother has one with double blades and it works great. You can just sling all the water that is beading up on your car, and then use 100% terry towels($4 for like 12 at walmart) to dry off. If you use the blade of squeegy, you will not need very many towels, maybe 4.
